"Ready?" Gus whispered. Annie and I nodded. Gus cracked the door just a bit. We listened first.
"Where did they go?!" Victor yelled. "We had four up here and now there are two! Someone's up here."
"What would you like me to do?" Evan asked.
"Everyone look around! Find the intruders!" Victor yelled. Then quietly he said, "They must have escaped."
Gus busted out the door. I guess we're not going to be quiet. Victor and Evan were only a few feet from the door.
"Alexis, Jackson! Kill the last of their soldiers!" Gus yelled out. Alexis and Jackson came from two of the couches. They found the nearest soldiers and killed them off. Victor looked at them in shock.
"How? What?" Victor stuttered.
"You forgot on thing." Gus said. "We have powers."
Gus flew over Victor and Evan's head and stood next to Alexis and Jackson. Alexis on his left and Jackson on his right. Victor stood in awe.
"I'll get them." Evan said. He ran toward me. I didn't have enough time to move. Annie was right beside me.
Evan grabbed me around the waist and held me up. My back was against his chest and he faced me toward everyone else. He pulled out a gun and held it inches from my head. Annie started to tear up.
"No!" Annie screamed. "I can't lose her!"
"Get away." Evan said to Annie.
"No. I'm not moving." Annie said. She crossed her arms and looked at Evan.
"Then I'll shoot her." Evan said. Annie stood there shocked, uncrossed her arms, and backed away.
"I will shoot her if any of you come close to me!" Evan shouted. Gus looked at me. He knew what I was capable of. He isn't even worried and neither am I. We can win this war. "I will shoot her if none of you join my side."
Victor, who was standing in the middle of all of us, nodded at Evan. "Good work."
Jackson looked down. What was he thinking? He had the look of regret. Jackson. No. Jackson walked forward. Evan held the gun closer to my head. Jackson put his hands up in defeat. No. Doesn't he see that I can get myself out of this?
"I will join you." Jackson said.
"Jackson n..." I tried to tell him to stop. I tried to get to him but Evan tightened his grip. "Let me go!" I yelled as I struggled.
"Not until I know he is one of us." Evan said.
"Jackson please." I said. Jackson looked at me in sorrow.
"I'm sorry." He mouthed. Evan motioned to Jackson to come towards us.
"Show me you are loyal by taking her and shoving her to the ground." Evan whispered. I could hear him. Jackson. Please.
"Okay." Jackson said. He said with regret in his voice. Jackson grabbed my arm. He is going to do it. Jackson shoved me to the ground. I landed hard. My head bouncing off the carpeted floor. Gus went to walk towards me but Evan stopped him. Evan held the gun to Gus' head.
"No one moves." Evan said. I lied there. Head on the ground. I could feel the pain rush throughout my head. He used all his strength. Why? "Not even you, Annabel."
I pain shot through my leg. The pain started at my calf, rushing through my entire leg. Evan had shot me. Screams escaped my mouth. They wouldn't stop and I didn't try to stop them. I could feel blood rush out of my leg.
"No!" Gus screamed. I could feel Evan's gun on the back of my head. Another shot. This time from Gus. Evan's dead body fell beside me. More screams escaped from my mouth. I tried to lift myself up. One hand on the ground, slowly moving the other to raise myself. My hands shook and I fell back to the ground. I was too weak.
I could see Victor walking towards Jackson. He walked to him and pushed him down to the ground beside me.
"You did this! You took one of mine I take one of yours!" Victor yelled. Gun shot. More screams. This time it's not only me. Gus, Alexis, Annie, and me. All screaming at once.
"You children ruined everything! I wanted to end this war with a win! You all ruined it!" Victor screamed.
All that was left. Victor against Gus, Alexis, Annie, and me. There was no way Victor was going to win. We were the strongest. He is nothing compared to us. Yet he made it seem like he could win.
"Maybe to get revenge, I'll kill her next." Victor said. He walked toward my body on the floor.
"No!" Gus screamed. Gus ran toward Victor. Victor held up the gun. I closed my eyes.
The gunshot rang through the room. Tears ran down my face.
