The issue of your suspicion continued to melt away as the fight against the titans intensified, especially with the revelation of Eren's abilities.

Often, you and the Commander exchanged quick glances towards one another. At first, you thought nothing of them and considered them to be a coincidence, but as the weeks wore on, you began to notice small things about Commander Smith. For instance, every time the two of your eyes met, he quickly raised his large eyebrows as he looked at you. You wondered if he consciously raised his eyebrows every time you looked at one another.

Standing on top of one of the walls near Wall Sina, you looked out over a quaint municipal district in the inner wall, wondering if your perspective on the people and homes below were what the colossal saw when he attacked. You shook your head- you didn't want to consider the titan's motives, they were most likely ruthless and bloodthirsty.

However, with Eren's abilities and some of the kinks that were revealed in them, you wondered if titans really did have intelligence or if they were controlled by some sort of instinct, or worse, a hive-mind. You shuddered at the thought.

Seeing that the sun was setting, you turned and walked to the lift leading down to the ground. After all, you were only on guard for the day, so you wanted some time in the small city for dinner and sleep.

You stepped off of the lift and back onto the ground, the wall you were previously on casting a shadow over the entirety of the town as the sun set.

Moving down the cobblestone path, you walked into the town to look for a place for dinner. After passing a few outside houses, you eventually made it into a more commercial area of the municipal district.

A brunette man from the Military Police approached you and fell into step next to you.

"Hey, you're in the Scouting Regiment, did you just come from the wall?"

"Yeah, I did," you said, not looking at the man.

"Oh, I have a later shift tonight up there," he amiably said.

You tucked a bit of hair behind one ear, not knowing that others were watching your conversation.

"Wait, aren't you also the girl who scaled one of the walls as a civilian?"

You stopped and looked him dead in the face.

"Why is that important to you?"

He gave a close-eyed smile and turned to face you.

"Well, I'm in the Military Police, and so are my buddies here," he said as three other men joined him.

You watched them all approach and locked your knees.

This can't be good, you thought.

"...And you broke laws by scaling that wall using 3DM gear under a civilian title," he continued, the men spreading out around you in a circle.

"I did what I had to do to survive," you replied through gritted teeth. "I was given permission to do it by a soldier like you and I."

"That may be true, but we can't just let you get away with breaking the law, now can we guys?"

You backed away a little from him and furrowed your brows.

"What do you want?"

It was at that point that one of the men grabbed your arms from behind as the other three moved in closer to you.

You swung your leg up and kicked the one who was previously talking hard in the jaw, not caring if you made a scene. The four men were being aggressive to you, and you would too to defend yourself.

The man you kicked held his jaw, and you saw a small amount of blood dribble out of his mouth and onto the ground. You struggled against the hands holding you, and the man picked you up while you were still kicking and quickly pulled you into an alley.

"You're no better than we are, you don't get special privileges," the man holding you spat into your ear.

The man holding you then threw you against a wall, and you popped back up as quickly as possible and balled your hands into fists, seething with anger and feeling pain reverberating through your left shoulder.

"Aww look, she's going to fight us," the man with the bleeding mouth coughed out.

One of the other men then stepped towards you and threw a punch, hitting your hurting shoulder. You threw a right hook while he was there though, knocking him in the cheekbone.

However, the man ignored the punch to his cheek and pinned you with his entire body weight to the wall behind you, holding your wrists in each of his hands and nailing your legs to the wall with his knees.

You struggled against his body, your head flailing angrily with each attempt to be free. He raised your wrists and gathered them into one hand, using his free hand to grab your chin and hold you back against the wall.

"You'd be dumb to try anything at this point," he said, his face uncomfortably close to your own.

You mustered up some courage and bit down on his large nose as hard as you could.

The man made a hissing noise and smashed your body harder against the stone wall, his hips grinding into yours.

You then heard footsteps moving quickly down the alley.

"Hey!" you heard a man's deep voice yell as you watched a fist fly into the face of another man out of your peripheral vision. "Let her go!"

The guy holding you then released your chin, but delivered a angry and swift blow to your temple, causing your vision to waver.

The newcomer to the situation, who now seemed familiar, rammed into the side of the man holding you with a large shoulder. You fell to the ground in a messy heap upon being released, watching the feet of the man who helped release you kick your captor in his side. With more footsteps, you assumed the other two men fled.

You then felt your body being gently rolled over against the ground, and you attempted to figure out who it was that helped you, but you were unable to on account of your pounding headache and faltering vision.

Your savior then wrapped his arms around you and lightly lifted you from the ground, the last thing you remember being a pair of wide blue eyes.
