my views on violence are a tad bit skewed.

because,

no, I don't believe it's the answer..

but when you shouted out the answer in class,
the one I knew, the one I would have recited,
had you not interrupted,
I wanted to connect my knuckles with your mandible, in the hopes to send your teeth flying

(but I didn't)

but when that beautiful blue eyed girl told me about her past, and what they did,
I wanted to burn down houses
and drown out the world with oceans

(but I didn't)

but when the kid who owns 3 different pickup trucks told me that I was ungrateful to god, for giving me my existence,
that I was an abomination,
simply because of Leviticus 20:13,
my mind couldn't help but wander to thoughts of cutting trees down so that they crush his Chevy with him still inside it

(but I didn't)

I didn't because violence is pointless
you won't change others views,
you will simply make them scared to speak them
you will invoke fear, rather than education,
you won't prove any points other than proving you don't have one
someone with the proper words and ideas does not have to use a fist
you will come to bruises rather than agreements,
so use your words.
use literacy to create acceptance,
use it to stick together the holes in her chest, rather than destroy the ones who put it there
learn that nothing in the world can be more powerful than knowledge,
and use your words to only convey logic,
change people, build them up.

don't beat them down.
