Mum and I chatted the whole trip home about my first day at my new job. I was so exhausted that as soon as we got home I went into my bedroom and had a half an hour nap. When I woke up my whole room reeked and I new I should of showered before sleeping. I grabbed all of my shower gear and went into the bathroom and turned on the tap.

All freshened up I put on my pyjamas and went to the kitchen.

"Hey mum," I said whilst yawning.

"Hey Lexi, good timing I just tea." She says tacking a lasagna out of the oven it looked and smelt beautiful like everything else she made.

"Don't call me that!" I whined, "Where's Grant?" I ask.

"He had a conference is Sydney," she responded.

"Okay," I could see that she wanted him to be here.

"Oh and you're going to your fathers house tomorrow night after work." She looked up at me, "have you even told him about your job?"

"Ahh shoot! No, I'll call him later," I say. I hope his alright with it he usually lets me do whatever I want after school.

"Okay, let's eat," mum says and starts serving slices of lasagna onto our plates. I grab knifes and forks out of the cutlery draw for the both of us and place them on table. I went back to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water.

"Do you want a glass?" I ask

"No thanks I have wine." She answers. I picked up my plate and glass as mum picked up hers. We walked to the table, sat down, picked up our knives and forks and started to devour our meals.

"Hey dad, how are you?" I ask him over the phone.

"Oh hello honey, I'm good thanks, how are you?" He responds.

"I'm great, dad I called to tell you that I got a job at the local stables," I say crossing my fingers that he won't be mad.

"That's great Alexia," I sighed with relief hoping that I wouldn't scream and embarrass myself.

"Thanks dad, so are you alright with me working there?" I ask.

"Yes of course." He says.

"Yay! Thanks dad I'll send the address so you know where to pick me up tomorrow." I say.

"Ok see you tomorrow, bye."

"See you tomorrow dad." We hang up and I turn my phone off. I walk back to the lounge room where mum was watching the news. I sat down and started watching it too. Another bomb in Syria, a gun fight in America. Same old, same old, I sigh. Why can't the world just get along. We watched the sport then the weather and it was over. I looked over at mum and she was fast asleep. I stood up, turned the television off and picked up one of the blankets out of the basket and draped it over her.

"Goodnight mum," I whisper. I turn around and walk to my bedroom and soon enough I'm asleep and surrounded by dreams.
