PSA: Mwah <3 Thanks for reading!! Anyway, read on...
When I finished my shower, I stepped back into the living room and headed to Victoria's changing room to wear the clothes she'd laid out for me. I snuck past her parent's bedroom, tightening the too-short and too-tight bathrobe Victoria had borrowed me.
I wasn't busty per se, but I certainly didn't need to anyone to see me in this bathrobe. It was way too tight and the entire piece barely even covered my entire chest or my thighs.
I couldn't help but envy the fact that Victoria lived in a mansion, or the fact that she had a huge bedroom, two closets (each of which were bigger than my bedroom) and a separate changing room.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of laughter. It sounded like it was coming from a woman. I thought Victoria had said her parents wouldn't be home until Monday? It was only Saturday morning.
More laughter. This time I could tell it wasn't Victoria's parents. The girl's voice was younger and higher-pitched than Victoria's mother.
Maybe it was just Victoria? Although I could've sworn Victoria's voice was a little deeper.
I called out. "Victoria? I'm not dressed yet!"
But there was no response. The girl was crying now, and I could hear another voice too. A male voice.
I recognized his voice, it was Adam. And the voice was getting closer.
Immediately, I took cover and dove behind a couch, holding my bathrobe even closer to my body.
Blaze, you idiot, I thought. I should've brought the clothes Victoria had offered me, into the bathroom.
"What are you doing here?" Adam asked. His voice was so loud; I was sure he was standing only a few feet away from me now.
Thinking I'd been caught, I was about to answer with, "I—
But I realized he hadn't been talking to me when, the girl spoke again. "I wanted to talk," she said. "I missed you so much."
"Sam," Adam said, a warning in his voice.
Victoria called from the living room in the bedroom. "Blaaaaaze!"
Both the girl and Adam turned toward the sound of the voice. I took that chance to sprint out from under the couch and crawl back into the bathroom. Then, after they began walking towards the living room, I sprinted back towards Victoria's changing room and got dressed.
Knock, knock.
Victoria opened the door to her room, looking behind me. "Where've you been?"
"Changing."
"Did the bathrobe fit?" she asked, smirking.
Looking up into her face, I realized she'd set me up. "You bitch," I said. "You knew it wouldn't fit me!"
She laughed, clutching her stomach. "Ha! I wish I'd seen you in it. I used to wear it when I was nine."
I shook my head. "Why would you do that to me?"
As she threw her head back and let out another hearty laugh, I noticed the way her heart-shaped face resembled Payton's. Even Victoria's cheeky personality and blunt remarks reminded me of the way Brooke and I used to banter.
Brooke and Blaze. We'd been inseparable.
"Because, I could." She was grinning now. At least, on the bright side, Adam hadn't seen me in the bathrobe.
Then, as if reading my thoughts, Victoria said, "Where's Adam? I haven't seen him since breakfast."
"With some girl," I replied, shrugging.
"What girl?" she asked again, looking concerned. "Was it Sam?"
"I don't know her name; I've never met her before."
"Nope!" said Victoria, stomping out of her room and racing up the stairs. "We're not doing this again."
I followed behind her, struggling to keep up.
Once we reached the living room, I saw the girl whose voice I'd heard before. She was sitting beside Adam on a green loveseat. Her hair was blond and a silver nose ring curved around her left nostril. I decided she was pretty, with her doe-shaped face and button nose. Her red blazer and red converse jeans matched the red streaks in her hair.
She looked up at Victoria, her voice terse. "Hi Victoria. Nice to see you again." Even though it clearly wasn't nice to see her again.
"What are you doing here, Sam?" Victoria asked, not even returning the greeting.
"Get out," she said again. Her voice was even sharper than Sam's voice had been.
"I—
"You broke my brother's heart," Victoria interrupted. "I'm not gonna stand by and watch you do it again."
I looked at Sam, her face looked a little familiar. Was she a model?
"Why don't you stay out of this?" asked Sam. "This has nothing to do with you."
That was enough to send Victoria charging in her direction, fists in the air.
"Stay out of this?!" Victoria asked, incredulously. "Oh, you should be grateful I've kept my mouth shut for as long as I have!" Now her voice darkened. "You're going to pay for what you did to my brother!"
Adam looked at me and I noticed the way his eyes were pleading. Adam Godfrey was looking at me like he needed something from me?
Once I got over the initial surprise, I did the only thing I could in that situation. I was a delinquent after all.
A minute later Victoria and I were sitting in the kitchen, beside a dog named Bo, a Weimaraner.
"Why did you do that?" she asked, furious. "I almost had her."
"You would've killed her," I answered.
"Exactly."
"Okay, Victoria," I said. "Calm down. What exactly did she do to Adam?"
But she didn't reply. She was silent for the next couple of minutes, before finally speaking.
"Well I guess, you're right," she said, breathing heavily. She looked like she'd just run a marathon. "Thanks. The last thing I need right now is a criminal record."
I chuckled. I didn't know Victoria was the fighting type. She had seemed too prissy for that. Maybe it was her relationship with her brother, she seemed overprotective of him. It was weird, I'd assumed she'd be the one in need of protection, not Adam.
"Where did you learn to hold someone back like that?" she asked, suddenly.
"Somewhere," I replied, avoiding the question. I'd kicked her feet so she'd hit the floor, then wound her arms behind her back. Juvie does come in handy sometimes.
When I went back downstairs, Adam smirked in my direction. "Nice bathrobe by the way."
