Heyyyyy, there are some shocking revelations in this chapter (especially if you ship Blaze and a certain someone). Don't hate me lol. Leave a comment if you enjoyed this chapter <3
"Yo," someone whispered behind my ear. I jumped out of my seat, still tense from BlackLight_00's messages, and was relieved to see it was only Victoria.I never thought seeing Victoria would bring me relief.
"You don't do parties do you?"
"What gave it away?" I asked, unamused. What did she want?
"The sight of you sitting on the edge of a dance floor, staring at your phone," she hit back. "It was a little pathetic."
"Do you have something else to do other than insult me?" She was just like her brother, arrogant and haughty.
"You looked kind of lonely." she said, her face sobering in expression. "I thought I'd come over and chat with you. It must be tough being the new student and all."
At that moment, it dawned on me that I might have been wrong about Victoria Mae. In mere seconds of conversation, she'd just proved that she might actually have a heart and that she gave a damn about something other than herself, her brother, and Cammie, Macy and Ashley.
"No, I'm fine," I replied, looking up from my phone. "You can go back to dancing with your friends."
But she didn't move. Not even a muscle.
"Nah, they're total drags today." She pointed at Cammie and Ashley who were laughing hysterically at something Dylan, Adam's friend had said. "Today and every day..." she muttered, under her breath.
"So who are you texting?" She plopped into the seat next to me, still popping her gum loudly. Why did she always have gum in her mouth?
"Um, just a friend," I said, quickly slipping my phone into the pocket of my overalls.
"What did you do to him?" she asked, curiously.
"What do you m-mean?" I asked.
"He said 'don't do it again'," she said.
Wow. I wondered how long she'd been standing over my shoulder, reading my exchange with BlackLight.
"He, um," I started, thinking of a response. "I lied to him..."
She raised her right eyebrow curiously, "Is he your boyfriend?"
"No."
"Then why does he care so much?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at me.
She didn't know the half of it. I didn't even know who this guy was, let alone why he did the things he did and said the things he said.
"So...Adam tells me you're a writer?"
The question stupefied me for more than a millisecond. How did Adam know I was a writer?
He must have glanced over my shoulder during an English period in the boiler room, and seen my writing on Fable. I blushed at the thought of him having read my work.
No doubt, he would have nothing but criticism—being that he was pretty much a genius in English.
I would have to be more careful from now on—Fable was something I wanted to keep private.
Also, why was everyone so comfortable discussing me all of a sudden? Why had Adam and Victoria Mae been talking about me? Adam and I were only English partners. That was as far as our relationship extended.
