Due to the party and drinking on Friday night, the whole of Saturday and half of Sunday was spent wallowing in her own self pity. Jane was left to wonder what had happened and how she had gotten home. Every time she thought it was time to get up and eat or go to the toilet, a severe case of nausea set in forcing her back to her soft comfortable safe bed.
Despite Jane's usual grumblings about her mothers "cool mum" parenting. This Saturday she felt extremely grateful for her unusual methods of parenting.
Her mother peeked her head in the door sometime during the morning.
"Jane, we are going to the mall would you like to come?" She asked hesitantly as Jane was normally out of bed long before 9:30am.
"Mmmrgh," Jane mumbled. The light was way too bright for her eyes. She pulled the sheet over her head in defiance.
Her mother exited the room for a few minutes. When she returned she had a large glass of water which she placed carefully on her bedside table.
"Honey are you feeling ok?" She asked sitting on the side of Jane's bed.
"Yeah, No. Kind of. I went out last night with some of the kids," Jane said.
"As in to a party?" her mother asked in confusion.
"Yeah," Jane peered up at her mother's face slightly worried about her reaction. Instead she got to see it transform into a huge beaming grin.
"Oh, I am so proud honey," she practically squealed whilst squeezing Jane's arm in excitement.
"Thanks... I study my but off to get good grades and you're proud now!" Jane grumbled.
"Well I was starting to worry about you honey," Her mother said.
"Worry? About me?! I never go to parties. Isn't that what parents worry about?" Jane scrunches her face up.
"They just want their kids to be safe and happy. I would trust you to be safe at a party honey. And I was more worried that you had no friends here. It took a long time to really cement your friendships back home. I know you were only young but you were a late bloomer in that department. Not anymore! One week back and you are already at the parties! Who are they? How old are they? Do they have some hot brothers?" she winked at her causing Jane to groan further.
Could her mum be any more embarrassing?
"I have a headache," Jane grumbled. She would never bring her friends over. Firstly because their foyers were probably as big as her whole house. Secondly because when her mum realises that it is Alex... She shuddered to think of how she would react to guy friends.
"Ooh baby, I will let you rest," she jumped up and walked over to the door with a bounce in her step, her voice could hardly contain the sudden excitement, "I'll make it quick today then and bring back some Chinese take-out. You must be feeling off. I'll ask Rose to bring my laptop in for you so you can watch some Netflix in here. You can tell me about your adventures later," and with a smile and a wink she quietly backed out of the room and closed the door.
Thankful for her mother's departure Jane groaned in self pity and pulled her sheets back over her head like a nice safe dark quiet cocoon. After a few moments the low droning noise of the air-conditioning coming to life filled her room. It was rare for her mother to use the air-conditioning as it was expensive. Yet the fact she had put it on made Jane smile as she fell back asleep.

Jane ran her hands through her hair in frustration. Trying to plan her English assignment was killing her in a very slow and painful way.
