School stinks
School stinks like sour cream cheese set in the sun.
For a week.
School is gross
So is writing
Except for poetry.
Ms. Rizzo,
I did not like this project at first
Then you said all the poems
Can be free verse
You said I don't have to rhyme
Unless I find the time
You said poetry,
It's totally free
I'm great at breaking rules, you'll see,
And even a lawless thing,
Like poetry,
Has rules
But my free verses
They're gonna break 'em
Because what is poetry?
It's music
Stanzas are verses
Rhyme becomes the rhythm
And for a girl with a song in her heart
This will be next to nothing
