Chapter 4

Edith & I sat in the clinic. We had waited for months for this day. After agreeing we wanted a baby, we made an apt. With Dr. Luhani. She helped us get approved, and start our IVF medication. It had been a couple of weeks since our first cycle. We came back to the clinic to see if it was successful and plan our course of action from here. I was so in love with having a baby with Edith. "Alice." They called from the door. I stood and walked over with Edith at my side. As we were directed to Dr. Luhani's office, I grew very anxious. She told us to sit. Her face was blank, and I couldn't read it. In her hands, she held the result. Whether or not we had a baby. I worried if we had a baby. I worried about having a baby. I worried that we could have more than 1 baby. She handed me the envelope and told me I could open it when I was ready. I grabbed the envelope and careful slid my finger, tearing it open. Edith stared intensely at my hands. I imagined the doctor wouldn't let me open bad result. As I carefully pulled the paper out, I mouthed what the letter said. Mrs. Maynard...........We received your sample.........Here are your result........There in big letters at the bottom of the page read Congratulation, You're having a baby! A scream escaped from my mouth. We were parents. We wouldn't know anything until our apt. We scheduled next week. I was so ecstatic! When we left the clinic that day, that was the happiest day of my life. I was a mother. Edith was a mother. I was so happy.
