"At what point, Stafford. Do we end our search for the pair?" questioned Sir John Howard as the pair rode through the streets. "We end our search when we have found that which we seek, Howard. Not before" replied Sir Henry Stafford as he gazed to the knight at his side. The pair had been riding for hours, and news had since reached them that David and Ava had split. "Stafford, David and Ada split up. It was made known that David intended to enter the House of Lancaster on his own terms, and under his own personal desires"
"Which are what, Howard?" asked Stafford, watching his comrade now. "He sought to gather information for the House of York. His wishes were much different to that of Ava. She still wishes to be with the House of Lancaster, and has since dropped all ties with the House of York. The pair are said to have called each other Yorkie and Lancastrian. Stafford, Ava's family are most unimpressed and no longer wish to have contact with their daughter whilst she is seeking the House of Lancaster. They have asked that you and I deal with her personally. As for David's family, they are now aware of their sons plan and have since expressed their applause for the man. Stafford, my point is this. The actions of those we seek will break a long standing peace between our two houses. And I have heard word that the King will plan a jousting tournament soon. We must be on alert for any unusual events. And this includes tampering with our horses"
"Do you believe that the House of Lancaster would tamper with our horses, Howard? They are dumb, but not that dumb. Everyone knows not to mess with the horse of a knight. It is a death wish. And they know it is. No one is dumb enough to mess with knights either" retorted Stafford as he gazed ahead of them. "Are you forgetting that Ava speaks with knights? As does David, and both have spoken to knights within the House of Lancaster. Ava, to Sir Richard Neville. And David, to Sir George Plantagenet. The knights will not have spoken to them about anything of importance. But still. Ava has connections now. Strong ones, might I add" retorted Howard in return.
"Enough about Ava, Howard. Do not speak of her. She is a traitor to the House of York. And a traitor to the crown and her name. Coming from a knights family, she should uphold the most respect for her brother, her father, and the men that came before her. By doing that which she has done these past few days, she has committed treason. And she must be brought to justice by the House of York. The House of Lancaster will protect her no doubt" snapped Stafford, no longer wishing to speak of Ava. He strongly disliked those that betrayed the House of York. He had slain his own brother for doing so just several years earlier. Nothing would stop him from doing so again.
"In what way is she a traitor to the crown, Stafford? By fleeing from the House of York, she is a traitor to us, and us alone. Stafford. Have you not sought a reason for us to fight against the crown? Have you not sought a way for us to get to the House of Lancaster? This may be that way and reason. And Stafford. Do not lust after that which you cannot have. Lusting after the one we are pursuing will make it more difficult for you to strike" Howard had a point there, if Stafford continued to lust after Ava, it would be very difficult for him to strike if necessary.
The pair continued to ride in silence now. They both had much to think about, and for once. It wasn't all about Ava. It was about the possibility to strike the House of Lancaster. The possibility to cause upset among the enemy and the King.
For once. It was different. And it provided for a future most interesting.[Authors Note: Annnnd! Welcome back to Kingmaker! My apologies for the lack of updates.
