You Saved Me
Prologue:
"Dallon! Can you take me to get Emma a birthday present? It's this weekend and I totally forgot about it...," I begged with my big green puppy dog eyes I knew he gave in to every time. You see, Dallon is my older brother and my best friend besides Emma. I guess you can say we look alike. We both have brown hair and the same facial features, but I am on the shorter side unlike him and I recently died my hair black. I have green eyes while he has a deep brown.
"Nope. Sorry, sis. I'm about to hang out with my friends," he shrugged.
I tried my puppy dog eyes again. "Please? Mom is out with Dad getting paint swatches for the kitchen!"
"Ugh fine. Let me go cancel my plans...wait in the car! I'll be there In two minutes," he gave in, grabbing his phone while exiting the living room. Heh. Works every time.
I grabbed his keys and ran outside in the cold. Even though it's early November, it's pretty chilly. I live in Pennsylvania. I opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. I'm a junior and he's a senior. He got his license last year. For some reason my parents don't trust me in front of a wheel yet. I don't get it! I am perfectly capable of driving at 16 years old! Well yeah, I admit I am not very well coordinated.
"Arianna Rose Smith! How dare you make me cancel on my friends at such a late notice?" he teased me with that annoying smirk of his.
I rolled my eyes. "Give me a break, Dal face!" He hated when I called him that. Aren't I so sweet?
He flicked me "Let's just get on with this. Where to?" he asked while driving out of the driveway, without putting on his seatbelt. He really should put that thing on. I quickly pushed the thought out of my head.
"THE MALL!" I grinned at him.
About five minutes into the ride, I turn on a country music station on the radio. I blasted it and starting singing on the top of my lungs "Swing your partner round and round! Yeeehaa!"
Dallon laughed and rolled his eyes at me. "Would you turn that down and lower your voice? I'm trying to focus on the road."
Well, he's no fun. I didn't turn down the radio, I just sang louder. He narrowed his eyes at me but then looked back at the road immediately. His lips started to twitch into a smile. He gave in and started singing along. He got so into it that he let one hand off the wheel and started fist- pumping.
"Yeah Buddy!"
I rolled my eyes at my brother. He is so enthusiastic...well i am one to speak.
I laughed anyways. "You don't fist-pump to country music with a banjo strumming in the background!"
He turned to smile at me. "Sure I can!"
I rolled my eyes at him as he kept singing his heart out. He was about to tell me something, but I cut him off when he didn't slow down at the yellow light. The light turned red.
I panicked. "Dallon! Look out! Stop!" He immediately stopped smiling and pushed me back to my seat when he saw a car coming our way. It was going even faster than he was. My heart dropped to my stomach as my brother whispered, "I'm so sorry, Arie." A tear left his eye.
I screamed "NO!" It all happened so fast. Dallan swerved but the car hit us anyways. The car slammed into us with so much impact on the driver's side. The car flipped and I started screaming as I saw my brother smash through the window shield. My scream was cut off by my head hitting the window, then the airbag. I started feeling dizzy and seeing blurry. The last thing I remembered was hearing that stupid music still playing. The stupid music I blasted. The stupid music I refused to lower when my brother told me to. The stupid music that made my whole life turn upside down.
