Juli

I woke up. First day of school.

Great.

I hopped in the shower, got dressed, and did my regular morning bathroom routine.Once I was done, I did a double-take.

I was wearing my thin "Tool" tee shirt, with black skinny jeans, and my black and white chucks. My usually curly long blonde hair is straightened, and my emerald green eyes have minimal mascara and eye liner on them.

"Juli! Breakfast!" My mom yelled from down stairs.

"Coming!" I hop down the stairs and through the hallway and onto the kitchen bar stool. I grab a piece of toast and pick up my bag and I'm ready to hop out the door, when my mom calls after me.

"Your not going to eat breakfast with me?!" She yells from the kitchen.

"Mom, it's already seven-thirty!"

"Oh, then you better get going!"

"Okay, love you!"

"Love you too, sweetie!" I walk out the door and close it behind me. I make sure I have my phone, laptop, text books, and wallet before I walk across the street to the bus stop. About two minutes after waiting for the bus, Kyle walks out of his house, looking spiffy, as always. He rolls his eyes at me, thinking I don't notice, but I do.

I always notice.

It really hurts me, too. I'm trying so hard to friend him, but he always pushes my offer away, like an old rag.

Before I know it, the bus pulls up, and I step on, taking an empty seat. Hopefully my best friend, Kaitlyn, will be coming today. On the next stop, she skips on, and takes a seat next to me.

"Omg, hey!" She says, hugging me.

"Kate, it's only been two days since I've seen you. Pizza night, remember?"

"I know, but we haven't seen each other on this bus in two months!"

"Okay, okay." We spend the rest of the long and boring bus ride talking to each other about our last two days without any contact between each other. I look outside my window and the large school towers. "We're here!" We pop up and we're the first people off the bus.

We go to the office, pick up our schedules and locker numbers. Turns out, our lockers are just down the hall from each other.

First class: History. I grab my books and walk over, seeing Kyle on the way.

I sit next to this goth kid who just snorts at me. I thought it would be rude if I packed up and left, so I just decided to put up with it.

The teacher called attendance and started with the boring lesson. I almost fell asleep when I was saved by the bell. Thank God.

The rest of the day went quite smoothly, and so did the one after that, until my science class, on Wednesday. I'm in Grade nine, but in science, I'm at a very high level, so I'm in the Grade ten program. Kyle's in my class.

That was when the shit hit the fan.
