Juli
I still remember the day I met Kyle.
"Honey, can you come down here for a second?" Mommy says, calling me downstairs. But it was still too early for dinner?
"Coming mommy!" I yelled as I put my dollies down and sprinted out of the room. I ran down the stairs and skipped into the kitchen were mommy stood, holding a plate of cookies. "Cookies!" I yelled, jumping up and down.
"Sorry, sweetie. These are for the neighbors. But I have extra, so you can have one when you get back." Mommy must have seen the confused look on my face because she started talking again. "We have new neighbors! They live right next door, and I wanted you to run over and deliver these cookies. Can you do that for mommy?"
"Of course! Do they have a girl my age?"
"No, but they have a six year old boy, that's two years older than you! I'm sure you'll get along."
"Aw alright," I said walking towards the front door. "But mommy, it's raining!"
"I'll get your rain clothes," She said, walking over to the closet. Once she handed me my boots, I slipped them on and put on my raincoat, along with my rain hat. There were decorated with small red ladybugs, my favourite animal! To match, I was wearing my ladybug leggings and earrings.
I picked up the plate of cookies my mommy covered in the plastic wrap she uses to wrap my sandwich's for my lunch every day. Mommy opened the door for me and I hopped out onto my porch and ran down the steps as fast as I can and took a right onto the sidewalk. I ran down the street until I got next door, and I ran along their walkway. I hopped up the front steps and knocked on their big red door, unlike our yellow one. A few seconds later, a nice looking lady opened up the door for me.
"Oh sweetie, you're all wet! Come inside," she says. I shrug my shoulders and skip inside and make sure to remember my manners, staying on the mat. The lady takes my hat off and closes the door. "Hello, who are you honey?" She asks me.
"My name's Juliana! I live next door. My mommy wanted me to bring these to you," I say, holding out the cookies.
"Oh, why, thank you! What a polite gesture! I want you to meet my son, Kyle. Kyle!" She calls out to him. I hear the pit-patter of feet running down the stairs and the a boy who's taller than me by a lot, with blonde hair and greenish-brown eyes. He was wearing a red tee shirt and blue too-short jogging pants.
"Hi mom! Who's this?"
"This is Juliana, our new neighbor! Do you want to say hi?"
"Sure! Um... Hi." He seemed a little disgusted by me, but I really wanted him to be my friend!
"Juliana, why don't you run on back to your mommy and ask her if you and her want to come over? Maybe you and Kyle could have a play date!" Kyle's mommy said.
"Does she have to?" Kyle asked.
"Kyle! Be nice."
"Okay! I'll be right back!" I yell. The lady gives me back my hat and I run back outside, into the rain. It's not as bad as before, but mommy would get upset if I got a cold.
I run back inside and call for mommy. "Mommy?!" I yell.
"Yes dear? How'd it go?" She asks walking over to me.
"Great! Kyle's mommy asks if you want us to go over! She said me and Kyle could even have a play date!" I'm really excited for my play date, even though I know mommy will be talking the whole time. Boring!
