Icing
I distanced myself from the rest quickly. I was just sitting at the same table with the supervillain Poison Ivy I thought my heritage was bad. That poor girl, Hailey got Joker as a dad. I felt more and more better about Captain Cold being my father, he was just a robber mostly. He didn't kill for fun like Joker. Poor Elizabeth, had to be adopted by a guy like Penguin, she seemed better than this life, than the life of crime. I wanted her to have better.
Jacobo was quiet, I was quiet too, but his quiet had a smugness to it. Like he didn't have to talk because he knew everything already. But he did seem like a good leader, I just hoped he wouldn't make me do anything I didn't want to. But all of this is something I didn't want to do.
Asher. More like Asshole. Who beats up a girl? I don't trust him, I don't like him, I don't want him near any of us. But it doesn't matter what I think, I guess. What makes me really sick is that Hailey actually likes the abuse and she likes him. It's too bad she got that from her mother, she seemed so bright when I first met her, the polar opposite of her parents, even. It turns out the apple doesn't fall far from the tree after all. So what does that mean for me?
I walked down a hall with rows of doors on each side. Four of them had one of our code names on it. I searched for mine and didn't have to search long as they went in alphabetical order. The door with my name on it was the first to the left, I turned the knob and opened it. It was dark but as soon as I stepped inside the lights turned on. I closed the door behind me.
The first thing I noticed was the queen sized bed. I only had a twin sized at home. There was a dresser and when I opened the drawers I found it was full of clothes. There was a desk with a laptop and a lamp. There were two other doors in the room, I opened the first to reveal a closet with more clothes and shoes. I moved on to the second door and found a personal bathroom.
"Perfect." I whispered to myself when I spotted the shower. Just what I needed after a day like this.
I was in the middle of stripping when there was a knock at my door. I groaned and narrowed my eyes. Walking over to the door in just my jeans. I opened it to find Elizabeth.
"Oh, E- oh." my eyes widened when I saw her eyes travel to my bare chest. "Hold on." I ran over to the bathroom and out my shirt back on quickly. I jogged back over to the open door with the beautiful girl standing outside of it. "Hi." I breathed. "Would you like to come in...?" I asked ready to take a step out of the way to let her pass.
She smiled and shook her head. "I was asked to collect you."
My hopes died a little. "Oh." I stepped out of the doorway and into the hall, closing the door behind me. "Where are going?" I asked.
"The game room, some sort of bonding activity the others want to do." she shrugged.
"Oh." I repeated. I honestly thought we would all go our separate ways until a mission arose for us.
I followed her into the game room where we met the others, Hailey was snuggled up close to Asher on the couch, across from them Jacobo was seated in a stool at what looked like a bar counter, there was no liquor behind it, though. I went to sit on the love seat on either side of them and Elizabeth followed, sitting next to me.
"Alright so me and Jakey called this meeting so we could get to know each other a little better." Hailey spoke in a sing song voice.
I looked to the young boy, he was our so-called leader but I had only heard him speak his name, did he really initiate this meeting?
Jacobo sat up straight and looked at each of us. "Its true. We only know what Ivy told us about each other. We don't really know how each of us got here, aside from our parents already being villains."
"I'll start off then we'll go around." Hailey spoke. She leaned forward, grinning. "I didn't always know I was the Joker's daughter, my mom handed me off to her sister when I was born. She'd come to visit, you'd be surprised how different she looks without all the face paint and the costume, and when she's wearing glasses, that's freaky. So I didn't know That she was Harley Quinn, I just knew her as plain old mom who came to visit sometimes." she leaned back and threw on a smirk. "That changed of course when Daddy Dearest found out. He followed her one time she came to visit. He saw me, and I saw the wheels turning in his head. Mom tried to cover it up but it was clear I was his. I have his nose." she tapped her nose and smiled. "Anyway, he killed my aunt and Mom was forced to find someone else to babysit me while she and Dad went on their late night rampages, that turned out to be Ivy, she had me help her with some of her projects until Dad came around and got me this gig." she sighed. "And the rest is history."
I furrowed my eyebrows. So Harley actually tried to keep her from this life style? Reminds me of me and my mom.
We all looked at Asher expectantly. It was his turn. He scratched the back of his head. "Well... I never knew my parents, I was put in the system as soon as a baby. They tell me my mom left the hospital five hours after I was born. And well I believe Superman is my dad." he grimaced and I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah I bleed, but that must be the human side to me. I have strength, speed, sometimes I can shoot lasers out of my eyes. And who does that remind you of? Superboy."
"Er, actually my father told me Superboy is a clone, born in a test tube, and he never had a childhood." Elizabeth spoke.
Asher furrowed his eyebrows. "Well I did, I was born, maybe Superman only wanted to deal with a clone, and not his real son. I don't know but I have to be related to him in some way." he was quiet and so were we.
