Few hours later...

Frisk woke up, confused. Her eyes darted around the room, and she slowly sat up. She stood up and rubbed her head.

The bed was comfortable, but there was a sick feeling in her stomach. She didn't like it.

Frisk stood up and made her way to the door. When she was outside, the house was eerily and strangely silent.

"Hello?" Her soft voice called out.

Recieving no response, she frowned and continued to walk down the hall. The feeling in the pit of her stomach increased.

She went to the living room. It smelt of butterscotch pie... And...

Blood?

Frisk ran to a door that was shut. She opened it, and cried out a gasp of fear on what she saw.

There was Toriel, on the floor, sobbing. Blood was surrounding her, and a bloody blade was on the floor a few inches away from her.

Frisk ran and embraced her small arms around her body. Toriel gasped and pushed her away. Frisk stared at her, confused.

"N-no! Y-you must g-go back child. I-I cannot take th-this any longer."

"What can't you take..?" Frisk asked in a soft and quiet voice.

"I can't stand losing another child." She whispered defeatedly as she looked down.

Frisk looked at her sadly. Suddenly, she got an idea. "Y-you won't lose me." She said quietly.

Toriel looked at her.

"How would you know?! All the humans that have come here before have been killed. All killed by... h̲̅ i̲̅ m̲̅." She said in a shaky voice.

Frisk frowned. "Who is... 'Him?'"

Toriel looked at her with terrified eyes. "He.... He is my son... ASRIEL..." She stated.

"Why would you let your sons kill humans?!" She reasoned, angry.

Toriel looked at her furiously. "Because I HAVE NO CHOICE!" She suddenly yelled.

Toriel threw an unexpected fireball at Frisk, making her fly out of the room.

FRISK 16/20 HP

Frisk scrambled to her feet, groaning in pain. She closed her eyes tightly. When she looked back at Toriel, she didn't see a kind motherly figure.

She saw a pained being with tears coming out of it's eyes. She raised her bloody hands, and fireballs erupted from them.

Frisk started to run, despite being hurt and dizzy. She fell and scraped her knee, but she was determined to escape Toriel.

She ran to the living room, and went under the stairs. Below was a dark and silent hallway. She paused. It was dark and... Creepy. There were dust on the floor and ceiling. She was about to investigate, until she heard footsteps coming closer.

She bolted to the end of the hallway. At the end was an enormous door. She tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge. "Dang it!" She cursed.

She slowly turned her back, and right in front of her was Toriel.

Suddenly, her bright red heart flew out of her chest, and the world turned into a grid- like void.

She was confused. But then, Toriel spoke.

"My child... All I want... Is for you to have a painless end." She said, defeat in her eyes.

Frisk's eyes widened when she saw dozesn of fireballs flying to her direction. She tried her best to dodge it, but a few hit her in the shoulder and stomach.

FRISK: 8/20 HP

Frisk gasped for breath as she was thrown on the floor. Toriel badly wanted to help her, to care for her, but she couldn't.

Frisk shakily stood up, despite being incredibly hurt.

"You w-won't lose me... I p-promise... I-I'll live... For y-you..." She stuttered.

Toriel's eyes softened. But it hardened again.

"You don't know what is out there. Why do you think I hid here from my own son..?" She asked with hurt in her voice.

"No. I promise, you won't be able to go through this again. Everything will end today, I swear!" Frisk begged.

Suddenly, the world turned normal again, and the attacks stopped.

Frisk closed her eyes, afraid for impact.

When nothing came, she looked up, confused. Toriel was on the ground, her paws on her face. Tears were coming out her eyes. Loud, wracking sobs were exhoing through the room.

Frisk moved to console her, but Toriel raised her hand. Frisk stopped.

"I-I... I don't know if what you're saying is t-true... And I'm not sure if I believe you... B-but right now..?" Toriel looked up at her with teary eyes. She cupped her mouth as more tears flowed out of her eyes. She smiled sadly, but it didn't reach her eyes.

"I-I really don't care anymore." She choked and stood up. Frisk brought her palms to her mouth.

Toriel walked back upstairs, sobbing.

Frisk was left on the ground, hurt. Tears brimmed her eyes. She had never seen anyone so... Pained. So broken.

Everything had changed.

It hurt her.

After years of humans falling in the underground and dying, all the love that Toriel had put through them was thrown away like garbage. All the pain the she had endured, watching as the child that she never had was killed in front of her.

Those humans were the only thing close to family that Toriel had. And yet, in cold blood, Asriel had them murdered.

Toriel was so incredible broken, nothing could fix her any more. She's had enough.

Frisk was determined. Determined to save Toriel and never let her feel the same pain ever again.
