Tris

We walk through long, grey, dull hallways in which has lots of turns and bends. We reach a ledge, with steps leading downwards to the left. Over the ledge is a huge room containing crowds of Dauntless, fighting and talking. This will be my life now. The pit, to me, is intimidating, I barely know these people, I feel like if I do something wrong they'll punch me for it. Eric walks away, expecting us to follow; we follow him down the long, grey hallways until we enter a dorm.
The dorm is massive. Beds are in rows, lights scattered across the ceiling, but worst of all is a rotten smell coming from the toilets and showers. Great, I'm guessing we'll all have to share. We follow Eric until we reach the toilets, he rubs his hands and barks.

"Listen up, for the next ten weeks you will sleep here, socialise here and whatever you people do, enjoy it while it lasts and get dressed into some appealing clothes, your Dauntless now, you've got to look the part"

Then Eric looks at me, walks up and whispers in my ear.

"You won't be here for long Stiff, I can promise you that"

A sudden chill flows through me as he says that. I won't be here for long? Is that a threat? Is he going to try and kick me out? He walks away leaving the rest of us behind. I look over to Christina; she has the same expression as mine. Shocked. On every bed there is a pile of clothes. All black with a hint of orange. All black, just like Eric's soul. I walk over to a bed which is next to Christina's and start to take off my clothes. I feel eyes watch me. The boy's eyes watch me. I pull trousers on my legs but before I finish doing them up, a boy with Dauntless clothes on walks in fount of me. Peter.

"Hey Stiff, nice legs, bad body, especially your face"

He laughs and walks away, back to his friends. Why is everyone being mean to me? I haven't done anything wrong, have I? After I changed we have to burn our old clothes. But I don't want to. I can't, these belong to me. But I have no choice. All of us line up near a dump, which smells of coal and flames. I'm next. My hands start to shake. I can't let anyone know I'm still attached to my old fraction even though I've chose to escape it. I take a deep breath and throw my Abnegation clothes into the dump. I watch the flames turn my grey clothes black then to ash. Goodbye. I walk forward, I feel numb. It was the same feeling I had when I jumped off the ledge into the net. This feeling stays with me until I enter a large room.
