Gracefully yet violently, Four does a well trained yet perfectly improvised piece of attacks against another member of Dauntless. He swiftly moves and blocks the on going fist of the opponent.
This guy doesn't have a chance against Four. It was like Four knew exactly when and where the other person would strike. I was completely engulfed in his style and movement. Four finally finished off the fight by flipping over his enemy onto the ground. Everyone just stared in awe as Four walked off to the side, crossing his arms. Eric appears from the other side, telling everyone to find a partner to practice arm exercises.I glanced at Christina, she's probably the only friend I have here. I approach her and she follows me to a free mat where we practice arm tactics. We continue to repeat the same arm sequence, which was tiring, until Eric shouted,
"First jumper Tris vs last jumper in the ring, time to fight"
My heart began to pound in my chest. I can't fight! Eric needs to stop torturing me! I swallow the foul words I wanted to spit at Eric. I ready myself and walk towards Molly. Her board figure and intimidating body language makes me want to run away. I enter the ring, looking at Christina, then Peter, then Will, Al, Eric, suddenly my eyes fall on Four, his expression changed from darkened to sympathetic. He tries to hide this look, and it works. Molly glares at me before asking Eric,
"How long do we fight for?"
"Till one of you cannot continue"
Four intrudes and speaks,
"Or till one of you concedes, Eric this is there first day of training, you think they're ready?"
"Well you haven't got the guts to do it, someone else has to, plus we have rules, you'll be scored on this so fight hard"
Four looks down, Eric's won this fight. Molly puts her fists up in defence as I stand frozen. Eric looks at me,
"Go Stiff"
I put my hands into a fist and put them up, same as Molly. She starts to stroll across to me, hands still defensive, I walk backwards in attempt to try and get some distance between me and her, but I only achieve walking off the edge of the ring. I see everyone looking at me, no words need to be said. I've already lost this fight. Same as Four with Eric.
Walking back into the ring, I put my fists up again, and then Molly charges at me, full force, I dodge her first blow and swing my arm to punch her. It didn't work, it only made a massive advantage for Molly as she throws a hard punch which knocks me to the floor. I've never been punched before, the pain stings as I rise and use my body to ram her. My head collides with her stomach and I punch as hard as I am capable to while she does the same, her punches more powerful than mine, more painful than mine. I start to struggle as she punches me and I fall the to floor yet again. I look at her with pleading eyes, hoping she'd let me go, but she looks at Eric...and he just gives her a look, meaning she has to finish me off. I look at her, only to see a fist collide with my face. My head falls and all I feel is pain and anger.
I can't get up. Get up Tris!! Get up! My mind and body doesn't cooperate well so I lay in mist of embarrassment until Four picks my arm up and I rise slowly. His eyes full of worry. I try not to look at him as I walk over to a bench where he gives me a ice pack for my face. The pain still lingers as Eric gathers the others over to the score board. My name, of course, is below the red line, I sigh as Four smiles at me in encouragement, he mouths the words, are you okay? I nod and look down to the floor, I guess the floor and I are friends. We are both treated with no respect and we get walked all over on.
