Kenzie

It's the day of the date and to say I'm nervous as shit is an understatement. I don't know how it will go what if I don't like him or we go somewhere and I don't fit in. My mind is going a mile a minute, I should be getting ready but I'm too busy thinking of all the reasons I shouldn't go. I decided to text Eli just to see what was up.

Me: Hey it's Kenzie what's up??

Eli: Hey Ken Ken shouldn't you be getting ready for our date tonight

Me: Yea about that I don't think ill be able to make it something came up and I have to go back to NC

Eli: lol you real funny ain't nothing wrong with you start getting ready see you in a few babes

I couldn't even text back a part of me wants to go but the other part is confused and nervous. What if im not what he expects or what if hes not what i expect, shit i really don't know what to expect. I have to start getting ready or i wont be going anywhere maybe if i take a hot shower that will help me ease my jitters its not like its my first date, but it is my first date with Eli.

After I got out the shower I pinned my hair up so i could start getting ready. I applied light make up I didn't wanna do it too big. I decided to wear my hair down with wand curls. Once I was finished getting dressed I slipped on my shoes and took a step back to look at myself in the mirror for a person who didn't wanna go on this date I have to say I look damn good. I grabbed my clutch and headed downstairs to wait on Erica I haven't seen her all day she must still be getting dolled up.

Not realizing I dozed off I picked up my phone to check the time it was now 8:00 and I had been sleep for two hours, there was still no sign of Erica and we was suppose to leave over a hour ago. This is why I didn't like dating I always get stood up just as I was about to send Elijah a long nasty text in walks him Erica and Fresh. So this hefer been with Fresh already smh I got up and was about to walk up stairs to change I didn't even wanna go anymore. Elijah sensing my attitude pulled me back and asked me "what's wrong ken ken?"

"Nothing is wrong Elijah I just don't wanna go out with you on this so called date."

Eli couldn't do anything but stand there looking puzzled he couldn't understand why this girl was playing hard to get usually females would be falling at his feet. I then turned and continue to storm off upstairs I was mad at the fact that they were late and they didn't even acknowledge it. Back in my room I sat down frustrated picking up my moms photo tears begin to form in my eyes I never really got over my moms death and right now is the time where I needed her the most. A part of me wanted to go but the other part was angry, I don't have patience when it comes to certain things and dating is one. Truth is I never been on a date where I really liked the guy it's always been a force date because in high school I never showed interest in any of the guys so everyone figured I was gay. I guess ill suck all my pride up and go on this date but the first time I feel uncomfortable I'm asking them to bring my black ass home.

ELI POV

I guess the good lord talked some sense into Kenzie because she came waltzing downstairs and stood at the front door with her arms folded across her chest.

"I guess you changed your mind about going out with me?" I said to her

"No nigga I didn't but I done got all cute and shit so ain't no need in sitting in the house, but the next time you decide to be late if there is a next time I swear for God I'm gonna crush what ego you have do I make myself clear?"

I was at a lost for words did I just let a girl punk me I couldn't even say shit but smirk and nod my head yea. After like five minutes of silence I finally asked was everybody ready to go cuz I'm trying to get on Ken Ken good side I know her funky ass feel some type of way because we showed up late. Lemme make a mental note to not let that shit happen again, low key shorty got a temper talking to me like she my mama or some shit damn Eli you letting your guard down big time!!!
