Caged

Chapter 1

Luna ran through the forest, chasing after her prey. Luna growled in delight as her squirrel got backed up against a rock too high to jump over, nowhere to go. Luna crept closer. Suddenly there was a sharp prod in her side. Luna's head snapped around, momentarily distracted. She growled frustratingly as the squirrel saw his chance and dashed off. Whoever had distracted her was going to pay. There was another prod in her side. Luna growled, knowing what she had to do.

"Finally, you're up! Luna, you know you sleep like a dog, right?"

Her brother Ash snickered. Luna just lost it.

"Ash, you nutbrain! I was having a wonderful dream until YOU came and woke me up! And here you tell me I sleep like a DOG!"

Ash looked at her wide eyed. She stood with her face inches away from him, her black fur ruffled.

Suddenly a small dark grey head poked its way through the den. It was Taylor.

Taylor laughed. "Oh Ash, what did you do this time?" She said giggling. Luna gaped at Taylor. "You're not supposed to be out of the den, Taylor! Where's mum? Why aren't you inside?" Luna fired questions at Taylor until Ash prodded her again.

"Luna, this is why I wanted you to wake up. Mum is letting us outside for the first time!" Luna squealed. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!"

Luna charged outside, laughing. The grass felt soft underneath her paws, not like the dead grass in the den. She spun around to get a better view of things. The forest was huge!

Luna laughed as Ash and Taylor rushed out of the den a few minutes later. "This is AWESOME!" Called Ash.

Suddenly there was a rustle in the bushes as her mother padded out with a rabbit in her jaws.

"Food!" Luna shouted, running towards her mum.

Her mum set down the prey, and everyone gathered around to eat.

Luna, Ash, and Taylor played outside the rest of the day. Luna laughed, running from Ash as he chased her, when suddenly something snapped down on her paw. Luna yowled in pain as her family rushed over to her.

Suddenly there was a loud noise as an alarm went off. Luna's paw was smashed, and she screamed even louder than the alarm.

Something came crashing through the bushes at that moment. Her mother screeched. "Human!" Her family scattered as the human lifted Luna into its hands and took the trap off of her paw. Luna whimpered as the human crashed away from her home. The last thing Luna heard before she blacked out was her mother's voice. "Luna! Luna, I will find you!"
