Caged

Chapter 5

Once again single and ready to write! I am so motivated after breaking up with my stupid ex boyfriend and am very happy! (Vagrants is still on hold, so sorry!)This is back to Luna's POV, by the way.

Luna growled and scratched at the leather strap around her neck. It was starting to itch, and she couldn't get it off. She yowled, slamming her tail against the side of the cage. Wait... her tail??? Luna looked behind her, and sure enough, there was a fluffy red and white tail attached to her body. Her eyes widened. Wasn't she human?? She made sure the rest of her was human, spinning in the biggest circle she could manage. She breathed a sigh of relief as she realized the rest of her was human. Unless...

She looked over to the cage next to her, a cat hybrid. Her tail and ears stuck out as clear as day. Luna reached up and felt around the top of her head. She squeaked. Two fuzzy ears sat atop her head. She turned around and peered into her water bowl. Red ears poked out of her head. She waved her tail in the air to make sure it was real. It was.

Luna realized the worst was not over. She was in a hybrid shop, where human/animal beings were sold. Hybrids were used as slaves, and she would be too.

Just then the man came in with a small cage. He set it down next to Luna's and left. Small noises like whimpers came from the cage, until actual words came. "Hello? Anyone here?" Luna lifted the tarp off the cage to find a shivering polar bear. The bear looked wide eyed at Luna. She backed herself up against the cage whimpering.

"H-H-Hybrid!" She squealed. "Nononono, that means I'm in a hybrid shop, what am I going to do? AAARRGH!" She screamed. Luna flinched. Suddenly the bear cub spun around to look at her. "Can you speak?" She asked Luna demandingly. Luna shook her head. The bear cocked her head. "Well, I'm Kaita. Sorry about... A few minutes ago, I just kind of freaked out. Luna nodded and lifted her tail, scratching at the leather piece around her neck again. Kaita shook her head. "I wonder when we'll get out of here," she said.

Luna wanted to tell Kaita that she wouldn't, that she would become a hybrid, and then, a slave. But she couldn't. Luna flattened her ears sadly and looked away. She hoped that they would be free again someday, but that was almost impossible.
