Chapter 16

I sat in the soft maroon chair in the living room, Corey and Trey-Nick's slave sat on the couch beside me and Nick sat in the chair across from me with a grin on his face.

"Corey, Trey could you give Arabelle and I a minute?" Nick asked politely.

I looked at him suspiciously, "Why?" I asked.

"Because I would like to talk to you alone." He answered.

"Whatever." I said.

Corey and Tray left the room and I looked at Nick expectantly.

"So how have you been Arabelle?" He asked.

"Fine." I replied nonchalantly.

"It's been awhile since I've seen you."

"Yeah, never thought I'd see the likes of you around this place, what's the occasion? Did you run outta friends?" I asked.

He laughed, "Ah, I missed your since of humor."

"So how have you been?" I asked with fake interest.

"Well, I just broke up with Carrie, so I've been very well."

"How do you sleep at night?"

"I've changed Arabelle." Nick said seriously.

I laughed, "Have you ever stopped to think before you opened up your mouth? Cause every time you do it's the same thing again and again."

He sighed, "I'm serious."

"Oh I bet you are."

"So...I never thought you'd get a slave." He said changing the subject.

"It wasn't my choice."

He nodded, "I figured that. So have you made your decision about who you're going to marry?"

"Why do want to know?" I asked.

"Just curious."

"No, I haven't."

He smiled, "Really?"

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"I can't visit with my old friend?"

"Friend." I scoffed.

"What? We're not friends?"

"No I wouldn't say we are."

I was starting to get irritated, talking to Nick was like chewing on tin foil, it's so much fun.

"Well I'm here to change that." He said.

I crossed my arms, "I can see through you cause you're wearing thin."

"I told you Arabelle, I've changed."

"Compulsive habits that just don't die." I said.

"I'm not lying."

"What you say just can't be true."

"It is."

I stood up and headed for the door but Nick stopped me, "Arabelle please. I'm telling you the truth."

I turned around and he was standing a few inches from me, he looked sincere but I wasn't buying it.

"Look I know I've messed up in the past, I know I've lied, I know I've been a jerk, I know I've upset you but I'm asking you to forgive me. Please." He said.

I sighed, "Do you really expect me to believe you?"

"No. That's why I'm here, to show you that I've changed and I'm sorry."

"Whatever Nick." I walked out of the room and into the kitchen where Corey and Trey were having a conversation.

Wow Corey talked to someone besides me, it's a miracle.

I hopped up on the counter while they talked, they were talking about cars.

Corey walked over and stood beside me, "What was that about?" He asked.

"Nothing." I said.

"Really?" He asked.

"I don't wanna talk about it."

"Why not?"

"Because." I stated.

"Because why?"

"Because I don't feel like it."

"Why don't you feel like it?" He asked.

"Because I just don't."

"Why don't you?"

I sighed, "Stop it Corey."

"Why should I stop?" He asked with a grin.

"Because I told you to."

"You're not the boss of me."

"Your right, I'm not. But your being annoying."

"Am I? Am I really?"

I laughed, "Yes you really are."

"I really am?" He said.

I rolled my eyes.

(God I love him)

That thought surprised me; I'd never thought anything like that before.

"Arabelle?" I heard Corey say.

I looked at him, "What?"

"You okay? You spaced out there for a minute."

"I'm...good, it's all good."

He laughed, "Okay then, how about you tell me what you and Nick talked about?"

"Why do you want to know so badly?" I asked.

"Why do you want to not tell me so badly?"

"It's not that I don't want to, I just don't feel like it, I'll tell you later."

"Fine, fine. So what are we doing today?" Corey said.

"What do we usually do?"

"Nothing." He replied.

"Well then nothing it is."

"Aw come on I'm sick of this god damn house, why can't we do something?"

"What would you like to do?"

He shrugged, "I don't know."

"Well if you want to do something then say what you want to do."

"Can I choose anything?" He asked.

"Yes."

I watched as he put his hand underneath his chin and puckered his lips as he thought.

"Hmm...I got it." He said.

"What?" I asked.

"A concert." He grinned.

"You want to go to a concert?"

"Yep,"

"Tonight?"

He nodded.

I sighed, "Where's my laptop?"
