Chapter 24:

I stared out the window of the car, looking up at the black sky,

We'd been in the car for almost 4 hours now.

I was very irritated, but not with Corey; with myself.

The fact that I wasn't even at least slightly annoyed with Corey was one of the reasons.

I mean we've been in here hours and still he refuses to drive and I already tried to get the keys from him but of course that didn't work.

After all he is much faster and stronger than I am.

He's even tried to make small talk.

I should be more mature than this, I should tell him what he wants to hear and go home.

But for some reason I didn't want too.

Silly isn't?

"Can you at least turn the radio on?" I asked Corey, without looking away from the window.

"Nope." He replied.

I looked at him. "Oh come on, this is ridiculous."

"Do you think so?" He asked.

"Yes I do."

"Well I don't think it is."

I rolled eyes.

"You do realize I can get out and walk home at anytime?" I said.

"Well then why haven't you?" He asked.

"Because I think you'd stop me."

He smiled. "You're right; I would."

I sighed.

"We can go home at anytime." He said. "You know what you have to say."

"I'm not going to say it." I stated.

"Fine, you will eventually."

"I don't see why you can't turn the radio on."

He turned it on. 'Rebel Yell' by Billy Idol played softly through car.

"Happy?" He asked.

"Somewhat."

He took my hand in his, "Explain something to me."

"What?" I asked.

"Explain to me why you have it in your head that you love me more than I love you."

I sighed.

"Why don't you explain to me why you don't think thats possible."

"Because, " He took a deep breath. "How do I put this into words...the way I feel about you it's...it's really indescribable, I don't think I can simply explain my feelings to you. Just trying to think about it makes me...utterly speechless. I don't even think love is a strong enough word.

No, no it's much more than that. At times I feel very overwhelmed, I don't understand how it's possible to have such strong emotions."

He sighed, looking out the window.

It took me a minute to say something.

"I-I don't deserve you." I stated.

He slowly turned to look at me, he choked out a laugh. "You don't deserve me?"

I nodded.

"I'm starting to question your sanity. You deserve anything and everything, you're amazing! I don't deserve you." He said.

I laughed slightly. "Everything you just said is completely untrue."

"No it's not." He protested.

"Yes it is."

"Not it's not."

"Yes it is."

I was cut off by my cell phone ringing.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Bells, where are you?" Drake spoke.

"Oh I-uh I'm at school." I said.

"But it's after 10."

"Yeah I know, I'm being held hostage."

"Um, by who?"

"Corey."

I heard him laugh. "Okay then. I was just calling cause Mom and Dad were starting to get worried."

"Okay, well hopefully I'll be home soon." I said.

"Alright, talk to ya later."

"Bye." I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket.

"Can we go home now?" I asked Corey.

"You still haven't said it."

"And I'm not going too, can we just call it truce?"

He didn't say anything.

"We can talk about it at home. Please?" I said, biting my lower lip.

He sighed. "Fine. damn you and your adorableness." He muttered sulkily.

I held back a laugh.

He started the car and drove out of the school parking lot.
