[Isla's POV]

"Amelia! The cookies are burning!" I yell from the living room into the hall. I hear her loud stomps coming closer as she runs to the kitchen.

"SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!" She screams and I hear a loud clatter . I jump up and scramble to the kitchen.

"Are you alright??" I say, seeing her look down at her hands while sitting on the floor. Her palms are red as a tomato and I see the pain in her face. Burnt cookies are scattered across the floor. Our cat, Lux, walks slowly to sniff them, unsure of what they are.

"I'm fine. Just so rushed I did something stupid. As you can see." She says, laughing but wincing in pain.

"I'll get an ice pack. Sit in the chair." I say, pointing at the barstool and walking to the freezer. I grab an ice pack and a towel. I wrap the cold pack in the towel and walk over to tend to Amelia. "Mel, I'll clean this up. You have to go or you'll be late to class. College professors have no chill." I joke.

"Thank you so much. I'm so glad I have you." She says as she kisses me.

[Amelia's POV]

"Self image. Something that haunts each and every one of us every day. Wondering what people think of us, while also fighting what we , ourselves, think of us. Which is why I want you to create a piece that is YOU. A piece that is unique to you and what you think stands for you." I listen to every word my professor says. I hang on to every syllable. This class is my everything. My future. I want to be a photographer.

"Amelia? What do you se yourself represented as?" She looks at me. Caught in between and anxiety attack and also excitement, I answer.

"I see myself as an ocean. Blue. Calm. Inviting."

"Also salty and full of fish shit." Opal , a girl in my class, comments." I look at her and see her laughing and joking with her other friend Sax.

"Miss Hernandez that is enough. You're no longer in high school. This is no place for your childish jokes and if you think that this is what that is, you're free to leave. Amelia, you were saying ?" Professor Owen looks at me.

"I-I was finished. " I say in a soft voice. This is why I hate talking in front of people.

"Hi love." Isla says as I walk through the door. She's sitting on the couch with Lux curled up in a ball in her lap.

"Hey baby. How was your day?" I ask.

"Amazing. I went to that new grocery store down the road a bit and it's COMPLETELY my thing. Everything is organic and everyone there seems to be vegan and it's just great!" I smile as she goes on. I plop down on the couch and lay my head in her lap next to Lux. "How was class?" She asks, stroking my hair.

"Okay. I got roasted by Opal again though. " I say, playing with the hem of her dress.

"Opal? Opal Hernandez? From high school?" She asks.

"Yes. The very same." I sit up and look her in the eyes. "I don't want to talk about her though. I want to forget today. It's been bad all around." I say, kissing her once than again.

"I can help you forget your bad day." She says, moving Lux off her lap. She smiles at me as I straddle her.

"I love you Isla."

"I love you Amelia."
