Chapter 11

Leslie's POV

As soon as we were dismissed for the end of the day I bolted out of my seat and made a break for the door. Ms. Litz had gone on about Shakespeare's glory days and twenty extra minutes had gone by. My school already ended ten minutes later than Sami's and I still had to pick her up and take her home. I was inches from freedom when my name was called, I turned around and saw my English teacher beckon me to her desk. I dragged my feet through the horde of people to her. 

"I just wanted to welcome you to the school, I know it's hard adjusting when you come in halfway through the school year. So if you ever need to talk to anyone my door is always open. I'm also the guidance counsellor." I nodded my head itching to get out that door without being rude. 

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." I said politely.

"Alright, now you should probably go. I'm sure you have places you need to be." 

You have no idea! I nodded my thanks and left that classroom faster than the speed of light. I tore through the front doors and into the parking lot where I was hit by a car. Well, technically, I hit the car. It pulled in front of me and I hit the passenger door.

"Fuck!" Well that hurt. The door swung open and a kid looking about 15 stepped out and pulled me to my feet.

"Leslie!" a voice shouted sarcastically, "Are you in a hurry?" I looked into the drivers seat and saw Ryder looking at me with a smirk on his face.

"You hit me!" I accused.

"Actually, you hit us." he pointed out.

"You put your car in front of me, therefore not my fault."

"You still hit us." I stomped my foot.

"I don't have time for this, I'm already late. I have to get Sami." He smiled

"Hop in, she goes to the elementary down the road right?"

"No, NYU." my voice dripping sarcasm.

"Ha ha, get in smart ass." his smirk still in place. I scowled and climbed in the front seat after the kid climbed into the back. I thanked him for taking me and he shrugged.

"I have to go pick up Tommy and Kari anyway. Oh and this is Carter, he's a sophomore. Carter nodded his head in acknowledgment, his headphones never leaving his ears. I smiled at him. and he seemed taken aback but he smiled at me too after a minute and took the headphones out.

"I'm Leslie." I put my hand out to shake his and he complied.

"Hey so you're the one he drove up with." I looked over at Ryder but he stared out the windshield. Smirk gone.

"He's talked about me?" I asked devilishly. Carter seemed to realize where i was going with this and smiled along with me.

"Talked! Try talks. He hasn't shut up about you since he got here." a stunned look crossed Ryder's face. He muttered something along the lines of not that much and I laughed. "I was talking about Rene Carter, Denise's sister, because she is like the hottest thing on Earth. Then he started going on about you." Ryder was tomato red. "But I have to say, he wasn't wrong" Now I was embarrassed.

"Calm down, Romeo." Ryder was looking into the rear view at Carter.

"I want you to experience brotherhood to the fullest."

"As long as my underwear doesn't end up in cake." I raised and eyebrow at him but he waved me off. There was a couple minutes of silence until we pulled into the school parking lot and there was Sami looking sweet as could be running around with two other kids following her, a boy and a girl. I got out of the car at the same time Carter did.
