I'm here in my family's restaurant. It's a burger joint, and it's the only one in town. And yet, we still don't get a whole lot of customers. It could be because it's next to a funeral home. (A.N. Catherine works at Bob's Burgers! I hope I don't get sued XD). Oh well, who cares? I'm in the PBA (Professional Bowlers Association), and I plan on getting a good job, so then I could support my family. I hear the door swing open, but I don't even look up through the order window to see who the customer is.
"Catherine, Catherine, Catherine, guess what?!" Jackie says. I'm looking down and adjusting my white gloves with a bored expression on my face.
"Hi, I am Catherine Tina Fries, and welcome to Bob's Burgers. How may I be of service?" I say without looking up. Jackie should know that when I work, I am a robot. And that she shouldn't go in the back without permission. And that I said all of that for no reason. See? I'm a complete robot!
"Sylvain called me pretty, Sylvain called me pretty," she says as she grabs my hand and spins us around.
"Wait, what..?" My mind is totally not working right now.
"Stop being this paper person, and start being the girl who is in love with my brother!" She grabs my name tag and throws it onto the ground, and it flutters to the floor. We aren't rich enough to afford real name tags, so we just use Stickie notes. It's kind of sad really.
But at the mention of Carl, I immediately perk up. "Okay!" I scream. I jump once and clap my hands together.
"Oh thank goodness, I thought I was going to have to slap you! Anyways, yeah, he called me pretty, and said that my voice was as pretty as I am," she said.
"Oh really?" I say excitedly.
"Yeah, it was amazing!" She said this with a very weird voice. We reach for each other's hands and dance around. We begin to squeal.
"Catherine, get back to work please," Bob, my dad, says. I sigh and tell Jackie that I have to get back to work, but I'll meet her right after I'm done. She waves and leaves to go back to the record store, which is just down the street.
"You know you can't have people back there," Bob says.
"I know, but it was an emergency! Sylvain called Jackie pretty!" I exclaim.
"Sylvain called Jackie pretty?! It's about time!" he says. I start to laugh, and I laugh so hard that I think my organs are popping or something like that.
"That's exactly what I was thinking, Dad," I say after I stopped laughing so hard.
"How come no one laughes at my Burger of the Day joke?" he mumbles to himself.
"I think they're funny! Oh, and Dad? Can I spend the night at Jackie's tonight?" I say.
"Of course you can! You always can! Except for on school nights, obviously," he says.
"Thanks, Dad!" I say.
"Why do you want to go to someone's house when there is a boy in there?" Louise, my youngest sister, says.
I look her straight in the eyes and say, "You'll understand when you are older."
"Yeah, Louise. Once you hit puberty, you'll understand everything," Tina, my younger sister, says.
"Tina's right, Honey, you'll understand later in life," Linda, my mom, says. If you haven't already guessed it, I'm the eldest child in the family. Tina follows behind me.
"But I'm never growing up! NEVER!" Louise yells.
"Remember when you had a crush on Boo Boo?" Tina says.
"That only lasted a day!" Louise yells. Her face is as red as the ketchup bottle next to her!
"I can hear you whisper to a picture of him every night!" I say. We have rooms right next to each other.
"Shut up!" she says.
"Alright, alright. Well, I'm going out, it's almost time to meet Jackie!" I say. I give everyone a hug before I go upstairs to the apartment to grab some things. I decide that instead of meeting Jackie here, I will just pick her up on my bike. I wave to the Pestos as I ride by.
In less than five minutes, I'm at the record store. I wait outside for a little while, and then I see Jackie come through the door.
"Catherine! What are you doing here?" she says very surprised.
"I decided to come pick you up! Come, stand on these pegs! We can ride to your house!" I say.
"I don't know, I've seen you drive on GTA and other various video games.." she says.
I laugh and say, "This is different! It's a bike!"
She hesitates, but then says, "Well, alright. Just try no to kill me!"
On the way to her home, I almost hit a person, a pole, and a brick wall. But we didn't crash, so that's good! We finally make it to her house, and she leaps off the bike.
"Were you trying to kill me?!" she says.
"No, I just had trouble steering!" I say.
"And you almost hit a person?! I don't think that's all that likely!"
"It was an accident!"
"Sure it was. Mhm, sure."
"It was!"
"Let's just get some food. I think we are hangry."
"Yes! Food!"
"Oh my goodness..." I run past her and enter the house and start eating before she can even get onto the porch.
