Chapter 1
Helena couldn't help the small pang of resignation. This was going to be her very last assignment, but not in the sense of good outcomes. She wasn't an actress. She wasn't a constant liar. She doesn't doubt she could kill this man, but she does doubt her capabilities of investigating him long enough for information. Things can turn on her rather quickly. She has to be cautious of her every single move. This might be her ticket to freedom, but it could also be her one way ticket to the bottom of a lake.
She doesn't doubt her capabilities. She's perfected her talents impressively. She never, however, had to investigate anyone. It was always downright to the kill. Killing has always been the easy part. There's no doubt that this will be hard, but doable. If it meant her getting her freedom, if not then she'll at least die trying in a sadistic sense.
It's been well over a month now. She was constantly trying to pin where the Genovese clan frequent, but her sources were dead ends. No one knew exactly where and when the Genovese family would show up anywhere. It was frustrating. Her investigative skills were put to the test countless times. It was never hard to find criminals that needed to be put down. The Genovese were different. It's like they knew someone was coming after them so they hid in the shadows silent.
When her source finally appeared promising she pursed it. Which leads her to the now. She's sitting at the bar. All the men ogled her as she sat there pretending to drink her margaritia. Her bodycon sequin red dress with a v-cut so deep, it left little to imagination, was surely an attention grabber. Helena felt uneased with the fact that she has no access to the weaponry in Division. That meant she couldn't take out a gun.
The plan is to seduce any man of the Genovese clan. Make one of them see her as his. It was the only way to get in without raising suspicion. Mobsters in general liked to keep their woman for life, even if they themselves were moving on to the next. Once your with one of them, you'll stay in it for life. She didn't care because at the end of it all she'll kill whoever she needs to. If she's likely maybe Francesco himself makes her his mistress. Earning his trust enough to get closer to her goals. The vivid image disgusted her. The man is probably old, fat, and a wife and kids. She shuddered in disgust. She hoped at the very least that she could get everything done fast. The faster she moves on with her new life, the better.
Helena raised her hand to get the bartender's attention. Not surprising, his attention was already on her. "A shot of something strong." She said to him.
He eyed her with hungry eyes while preparing her shot. He slides it to her with a wink. "On the house."
She grins back, even if her annoyance is working it's way up. A free drink is a free drink. She could appreciate that. "Thanks handsome." She said flirtatious. She down the shot in record time.
"Having fun?" James appeared next to her, scolding her. She looked him and fought the urge to roll her eyes. Unfortuntely, she wasn't successful.
"I needed a drink, James." She rolled her eyes again when he glared at her. At the moment she didn't care if James told her father. This undercover thing that's going on scares her more than James at the moment. She could die here and now, but of course he wouldn't care. He was too busy being her father's lap dog.
He leaned in and whispered to her ear. "Are you ready? They just entered." The thought of him so close to her made her stomach churn. She pushed it down to concentrate on her assignment. She looked towards the door and found nine men stading. All of them wore all black attire that made them stick out in a place where everyone was dressed to impress. "Those are some of the clan."
She nodded and placed a invasive hand on his leg when she caught the eye of one of the guards in the back. The move made her nauseous. "He'll have a clear shot, but I also need a gun for precaution. Give me yours."
