Chapter 10
Helena knows better than to mention anything that happened in Florida. In fact, her stomach turned at seeing Francesco modifying a human. It wasn't any human either, it was Francesco's brother-in-law. Nothing on file told her he was married. What exactly did Francesco do to his wife?
Helena closes her eyes. She's in shit load of trouble now.
"Are you okay?"
She opens her eyes to find Francesco standing in front of her. His cold eyes show no guilt for what he did. She knows this is the life, kill without any remorse, but still killing fast is okay but torturing a man to the extend he did, wasn't okay.
"I'm fine." She responds a little too late.
He just narrows his eyes in suspicion. "Join me for dinner, Helena. We have matters to discuss."
"Lead the way."

Francesco escorts her to the family dinner room. The crests of the family surname is institched on every silk napkin.
Helena notices his calm demeanor. She herself isn't as calm. She knows every minute she's here she's closer to being discovered. On the other hand, she's curious to know about Francesco's wife. Should she ask or should she keep her mouth shut since it really isn't any of her business.
"Are you not going to eat?" He asks her.
She nods only now noticing the fresh meal before her. She takes a sip of red wine before she makes up her mind.
"You're married." She states more than asks.
"I was married."
"What happened? She couldn't take your hopeless romantic self, and left you?" Helena tries to lighten the conversation with sarcasm.
He calmly takes a sip of wine himself. "No I beheaded her." Helena tried not to look revolted but she did and he obviously noticed her reaction. "Mia Cara, my wife is beyond decapitaed. She deserved everything that went her way. I merely showed her mercy."
"I hardly doubt being merciful is chopping someone's head of."
"My mind is at peace." She picked at her dinner, not pushing the conversation further but Francesco has the need explain himself. "I never loved her."
She put the fork down. "It's not my business."
"As a member of my own it is." He pushed aside his plate, not in the mood for a meal anymore. "Our marriage was based on nothing. I did not love her and she did not love me, Cara. We only married for appearances. She was a attractive woman that looked well by my side. She thought the same for me."
"If your marriage was based on nothing, then why did you kill her? Wasn't there a way to let her go then have her blood on your hands?" She knows its a stupid question to ask. She might not like the answers but her curiosity is getting the best of her. No where in his file did Division mention that he was married. If Division hid that from her, than what else are they hiding?
"I vowed in our wedding that I would be beside her til death do us apart. I fulfilled my promise." He leaned back in his chair wanting to see her reaction but Helena isn't one to keep her guard down easily. that's what attracts Francesco to her. She's slowly looking like his other half. a person exactly like him, strong, capable and invincable. "Vincina, wasn't like any other women. She was shy, quite, and calm. But she had one flaw. Her family. She would have done anything for her family, even leave the one she truly loved to marry me. I did not know that she had other intensions in our marriage until shortly after two years along. She was working with an with a group in secret. She gave them more information than they could have even found on their own, and I found out. As I always do. I did confront her, but unfortunately our confrontation ended in her sudden tragetic death."
Helena takes all the new found information in. Her composure is calm and calculating but her mind is far off thinking of ways to process it all. She herself isn't a saint. She has killed many without having any reasons why but just another name on the list. She never knew them on a personal basis though. She never slept beside a man for two years and killed him. she wouldn't have been able to. No matter if Francesco's marriage was based on just selfish interests he probably knew her well enough to at least have some guilt in murdering his wife.
She knows she doesn't care much about the killing of his wife. She cares that her life is on the line because if Francesco was able to behead his own wife of two years just like that. One can only imagine what gruesome way he'd kill her if he were to ever find out that she's part of division.
She jumps at his cold breathe on her neck. "No one crosses me and lives, Cara, remember that." He places a small kiss on her neck before he leaves her alone.
Francesco walks to his room with a debating mind. His mind is proud of him installing fear in Helena today, but his contrary part is worrying what she might think of him.
