Chapter 14

The next morning, Amber was up and dressed before Nick. She made sure that she was dressed in a nice blouse and pants, and had her hair up into a tight bun. She put a small pair of diamond stud earrings in. She smiled after she liked her job well done, and headed off to the kitchen.

As she walked by Nick's room she heard the shower going. She smiled, and walked off. She was glad that he was up. She didn't have to worry about getting him up. Amber made breakfast for Nick and herself. She made scrambled eggs, bacon, English muffin with butter, and a tall glass of milk. As she placed the plates on the island and the glasses of milk, she heard Nick coming down the hall.

"Something smells good," he said.

Amber turns around to see Nick walk in and fixing his tie. He was wearing a black suit, white shirt, a shiny light blue tie, and brown loafers. He looked very nice.

Amber gasped, "Wow, Nick; you look great." She walks over, "It adds to your 'cute factor'," she pushed his nose lightly when she said 'cute factor'. She then couldn't help but asked, "Now, you're not going to hit on those girls are you?"

"Of course not," he said reaching over to wrap his arms around her and kissed her, "You're my girl."

Amber turns around grabbing Nick's cell phone that she made sure was charged, and hands it to him. "Before you forget, you better tell your mom about the engagement before we go. Rob will be here in a half hour to go with us to the show."

Nick took the phone and looked at it, "I want to eat first."

"Well, call and eat. I do it all the time," Amber said going over to sit down at the island.

Nick followed Amber, sat down at the island beside her, and called his mom up.

"Hello?" Denise asked.

"Good morning mama."

"Morning Nicolas," she said. "Aren't you supposed to be on 'The View' soon?"

"In a half hour we leave," Nick told her.

"Okay. I'll be watching you."

"Great." He was then quiet. "Um... momma, I have a surprise for you; or something to tell you."

"Oh? Is everything all right?" she asked.

"Yes, everything is fine," he smiled and looked at Amber and the ring. "Um, how would you like to have a daughter-in-law?"

"What? You asked Amber?" she asked excitedly.

Nick smiled at Amber, "Yeah, I asked her and she said yes."

"Oh Nicolas. That's wonderful," Denise said sounding like she was going to tear up some.

"Mama, I have to go and eat, but I wanted you to know that Amber and I are engaged."

"Well, thank you for calling and letting me know. I'll let the family know too."

"Thanks mama," he smiled.

They said good-bye, and Nick ended the call.

Amber finished her mouth full, "So I take it that she's happy?" she asked.

"Very," Nick smiled, and kissed her. "Thank you, now may I eat?" he asked.

Amber smiled, "I never stopped you from eating."
