Where Are We?

A few more days to go and we, Filipinos will be judging who deserves to win the election, both in local and national positions. And as much as this is about the politicians, the politics, and their precious promises, this is also about us, the supporters/voters who've gone a long way, as we are on the receiving end of their decisions (once they're already on their respected thrones). I can't wait to hear everyone's conclusion of whether they're satisfied with their choices or they have been played the fool. Although, sadly, some would be indifferent; Vote- go home- live the same way.

This past days, we've been reading the different point of views of our fellowmen and witnessing how everyone fights, wondering how some are still undecided, carefully observing how others are switching from one bet to another while some of us were there, still standing firm in support of the same candidate we've been rooting for from the very start. Five days is not too long but also not too short. We are all aware that anything can happen and that is inevitable.

At this point, let us locate ourselves. Let us try to find out where we are and take it seriously. Where are we as a supporter? Have we made progress? Can we proudly say that our moral judgments as a driving force is rightfully and adequately enough to choose? Where are we as the judge of these people who promise every beds of roses to get our supports? Where do we think, we belong?

1. ARE WE STILL UNDECIDED?
If we are, man, we're dangerous. If we can't see a better Philippines to any of the candidates, we might end up boicotting or voting the wrong one (though, we all want to believe that this kind of candidate is non-existent). Well,as we can all see, the campaign period was long enough and if we're still undecided until this point, maybe we'll find it harder to make a good last-minute decision. We can give ourselves the benefit of the doubt that maybe we still can (and should) end up on the best choice considering the long time thinking and all. Let's all hope and pray for the latter.

2. ARE WE READY TO SWITCH to a better candidate if circumstances will allow us to see who really deserved the position?
Before we consider this option, we have to first put aside all our prideful nature and personal emotions and only envision the well- being of our beloved motherland. We might be hearing mocking remarks for being inconsistent and unable to stick to our words but are we that shallow to even consider how people will think about us? This election thing is not a joke, this is about us and the next generation's future. This is about our sense of nationhood. We can't just go around and choose without considering our neighbours. Thumbs up for us who are still trying to practice this openess in looking for the best one, if not, atleast better than the one we are currently supporting.

3. ARE WE 100% UNBREAKABLE? Are we at the state where we'll still be voting for our chosen candidate no matter what? As in, there will be no deal breaker? Are we at the point where we are ready to justify whatever they'll say or do that no matter what issues will be thrown and proven against our candidate, we will never revisit our decision? If so, let us crossed our fingers that the reason be not because we'll have a personal gain if this candidate wins nor it's our pride talking. Let us make sure that our reasons are valid. May this decision of each one of us, if won't result for the best, atleast a better one.

And remember, that better Philippines we are all dreaming of, won't happen overnight. Let us work hard for it every single day because at the end, this is not just about who runs the country, this is about all of us, this is about how we act and interact as individuals. May God's wisdom come upon us. God bless the Philippines!
