Kerri

What the heck am I doing again? All I can tell from my computer screen is that I'm supposed to be typing an email. Who it was to and what the purpose for it was remains a mystery to me. I only know the basics. Staring at the basically all white screen, I began to zone out once more. This time I relaxed my chin in my palm, leaning on my elbow.

"Kerri!" With a jolt, I was back up. On the screen, a long line of 'R's followed the very last word I had typed.

Ugh, I shouldn't have stayed up to all hours of the morning with Susie, Spencer, and my mom. My concentration and focus was nonexistent right now. What I'd do for sleep, you don't even have a clue.

"Wake up girl! It's ten, you shouldn't be dozing off already. Hold up for at least two more hours until your lunch break."

"Sorry," I blushed. Leave it to me to be a horrible intern. This is a privilege and I'm falling asleep. What the hell, I need to get my priorities straight.

"Late night?" Her eyebrow shot up and her eyes slightly narrowed expectantly. She took a swallow from her coffee cup flashing off a gorgeous ring. There was a red gemstone in the middle with diamonds encrusted on a platinum band. All I could think of was that I want one!

"Nice ring."

"Thanks," she held her arm out so her hand was away from her. Laurie titled her head to the side, admiring her ring.

"Who gave it to you?"

She shrugged with a smirk, "my lover."

"Lucky you," I mumbled.

"Play your cards right with Spencer and you might get one. Now, let's switch back to the previous subject. Did you have a late night?"

Blushing more intensly, I sort of gave myself away.

"With who?"

"Do you have to ask?" I rolled my eyes at her. Laurie of all people should know that I have a mad crush on Spencer. Any other guy just won't do.

"Alright Miss Smart Ass."

"Sorry Laurie," I smiled sheepishly.

She shurgged and told me to get back to work. Taking a quick sip of my raspberry iced tea, I followed her order. Minutes later, I found myself trying to blink my way back into reality. This just wasn't working out. Next time, I'll have to have Spence come over earlier, and not have three margheritas on a week night. Damn Mom. She would make them.

My mother was easy on the rules, especially after she has a blow out with my dad. Compared to hers, Susie and I had virgin margheritas. Sad isn't it?

My dad didn't even come home last night. Sometimes he just stays at work all night and sleeps on the couch in his Vice President worthy office.

"Kherrington, can you pick up some papers from the printer please?"

Such a simple task. Too bad the printers here hate me with all the toner and paper in their being.

"Sure. Um, what time is it?"

"Close to 11:30. Fourty five more minutes and you're free to sleep. I suggest in your car. Carter would die if she saw someone napping in the office."

"Gotcha," smiling, I got out of my orange wheely chair and headed to the dreaded workroom. God forbid there's another paper jam or something.

In the small room, I walked on over to the economy sized printer that was busting ass. Multiple sheets of paper were flying out at lightning speed. It was like the Superman of all printers.
