~ Chapter 7 ~ The Quest ~
"Hi, you four," I grin at Teresa, Mimi, Alice and Black Diamond.
"Hi," they say.
"How are you," smiles Alice.
There's a pause.
Mimi grimaces. "You do know that there's a few rumors going round about you, you know...?"
"Oh, I thought there would be. Did it start from one of David's brothers?"
"Actually, yeah," Black Diamond laughs, nervously.
Another pause.
"You know, it's about - it's really strange."
It's like they're trying to make me ask them what the rumor was about. I say nothing.
"Apparantly..." hesitates Teresa. "You and, um..."
"Apparantly, you and David kissed. We want to know if that's true."
I'm shocked, squinting at Black Diamond. I don't want to say much. So I don't say much - I shrug. "Almost."
"Does that mean he likes you?" asks Alice, hesitantly.
"I don't know. Why?"
"Cos he's ours," Black Diamon laughs.

As I walk down the hallway of the 2nd Section (High School area), I see Jack. The second he sees me he turns from his friends and walks to me.
"Sorry for telling everyone you almost kissed David - it was going to be his first kiss. Soz."
"It's okay," I say, awkwardly. "Just don't do that again."
He looks at me, shocked. "What, you're planning more kisses? Like a first-and-a-half kiss because... that was sort of a half kiss?"
I hear a ringing through the halls. Saved by the bell.
Jack will never know.
Suddenly, I hear a voice through the speakers. "Year 7s to Sixth Formers please report to my office. Year 7s to Sixth Formers please report to my office. Thank you," said the headmistress.
"Oh, great what is it?" I hear David say.
He's next to me. "What d'you mean?"
"I've heard Miss Airlily talking to loads of people about some residential, but... not really a residential. It's a Quest," he says, seeing my confused face. "We have to do something. But I don't know what."
"Please report to my office."
"We should go," I say.
***************************
"Right."
The year sevens, eights, nines, tens, twelves and Sixth Formers are all gathered outside Miss Airlily's office - of course, a tremendous horde of teenagers can't fit in one teeny office.
"There is good news," says our headteacher, crossing her arms, meaning business. "And bad news. Which one first?"
"Good news!" I hear Keeran shout.
"Very well. You are all going on a month-long residential."
The high schoolers roar. Including me. I dunno, a month-long residential? If you don't like that you sit on the throne of lies.
"However," the room grows quiet. "We're going to ask a teensy little favour of all of you."
There are whispers among us. "Uh oh," I hear Corrie Wildbird hiss to David. "Watch out - you know what happens when they say that. It's what Mr Lightwind always says before he makes us tidy up the whole science room."
"We have a... VERY important task to ask of you."
"Told you so," Corrie smirks.
