The TV glow flickered throughout the dark room as Lola lay back in her bed. She held her phone in her hands, her neck curved and head resting against the headboard as she recieved a text from Jackie
Please don’t be mad at me x
Lola sighed gently and hovered her thumbs over the small buttons. Funnily enough Jackie was the one who practically ended their friendship in the school hallways but here she was crawling back to her. She didn’t want to rant at Jackie and tell her off for causing such a heavy situation between her, Harry and Zayn. She was still feeling angry at her for blabbing because it wasn’t any of her business to tell. Even if she did have Lola’s best interests at heart.
When she didn’t reply for two minutes, another text came through
Lola i’m trying to ask for you to forgive me, please dont ignore me, J xx
I dont know whether I can trust you after what you did, and to be honest i’m not even sure that you care about me. I can take care of myself you know x
Yes but I was looking out for you. And you threw it back in my face. You know as well as I do that Harry is trouble, you’ve got scars to prove it. Just think about it!
Lola felt a little irritated by Jackies persistance over Harry. Sure, she had a point and Lola did feel crazy for still wanting to stick around Harry, and care about him so much. After everything he’d done to her, and how he’d ruined her life, she couldn’t help the way she was feeling about him. And she didn’t want Jackie butting in and telling her who to stay away from. It wasn’t like her to chose a boy over her friends, but Harry didn’t seem like just anyone. It was different
I already have. I know who I want in my life
Lola quickly sent the reply and switched off her phone, wanting to conversation to end there. She pulled the covers up to her chest and switched her tired gaze back to the television, an old re-run of Friends playing. It was an episode where Rachel had discovered that Ross had cheated on her, and he begged for her forgiveness. Lola glared wide eyed at the loveable couple, the affection displayed between them as he kissed up her shoulder to her face, attempting to win her back over.
She felt a pang of jealousy at the two characters as she wished she had someone that loved her as much as Ross loved Rachel. She’d never experienced the feeling of someone wanting her, and only her, nobody else. Someone who’d go to the ends of the earth to give her everything.
Her thoughts were interuppted by the knocking sound on her bedroom door. She peered up from the dark confines of her bed to the door, seeing the silouhette of Harrys curls as he peeked his head around.
“Are you awake?” he asked quietly, his voice low and gravelly. Lola leant up on her elbow, her eyes adjusting to the darkness as she showed him she was awake. The yellow lighting from the landing was closed off as Harry shut the door behind him, stepping into Lola’s room.
She saw his shadowed figure, messy curls, wearing a pair of boxers and a thin slub sweater.
“What do you want?” she asked, seeing him looking down at her curled up body in the bed.
“Can I get in?” he asked, lifting back the corner of her duvet. Lola felt a cold waft of air on her skin. She nodded feebly and felt a weight press heavily into the mattress as Harry rolled in beside her. She scrunched her nose in confusion, expecting that he wanted something inparticular.
“What’s wrong with your own bed? You better hope John doesn’t come in here and se-“
“Don’t worry he’s gone to bed, it’s gone midnight. Him and Jake are asleep” Harry explained, rolling onto his side to face Lola. She felt the warmth of his long body cramped up so close to hers in the single bed, Lola’s back pressed flat against the wall.
