I woke up to big hands shaking me awake. I let out a low growl signaling it's too early, why're you waking me up. I rolled over hoping I wouldn't have to wake up.
"As much as you love your bear you can't be one Lily."
"I don't think anyone wakes up this early", I whispered as I cocooned myself in my blankets. I just wanted the world to go away so I could sleep. A billion thoughts raced through my mind. What if she doesn't like me? What if she sends me back? What if me and Harry get separated? My thoughts were interrupted when I suddenly realized I was being picked up.
Harry had flung me onto his shoulder and was now carrying me like people often carry drunk people.
"Harry put me down c'mon! Please let go of me." I could hardly get the words out of me because I was giggling too hard. I tried punching him in the back but once again my shortness bit me in the ass and I couldn't reach. I silently gave up and let him carry me to where ever his destination was.
He finally stopped and set me down. I took my chance to punch him in the arm and mess up his mop of curls you call hair. I then realized I was sitting on my bed and wondered why I wasn't already in it.
"Harry why wasn't I in my room last night?"
"You slept with me again."
I then remembered what he said last night. Chills washed all over my body while a nagging sensation tugged at my brain telling me to ask. I decided I shouldn't.
"Uh our new mom is coming to get us in 20 minutes, you should probably get dressed", Harry told me before he exited my room.
I decided to just keep Harry's hoodie on and just throw on some ripped jeggings. I then slipped on my faded and no longer white high top converse. I let my hair stay in it's natural waves. I grabbed my two light bags and teddy bear giving my room one last look. I think I might miss the creaky floor boards, the spinning fan that helped me fall asleep, the squeaky cot, and the small closet. Before I left for Elizabeth's office I picked up a black sharpie and wrote "Lily 1998-2013" next to the door frame. It's an old tradition in adoption homes that you write when you start there and leave there with your name in your room you stay in. I then walked out the door to Elizabeth's office.
When I stepped in I smelt an unfamiliar scent. It smelled like lemons and jasmine. My nose observations were proved correct when my eyes met with an unfamiliar face.
She looked like she was 30 but had the sad eyes of a 75 year old. She was about 5'6 and had pale skin which matched her pale blue eyes. Her hair fell down past her shoulders in straight brown strands. I couldn't believe this would be our new mom.
"Harry, Lily this is Grace your new mom."
I looked at her and just ran over to her and hugged her. She let out a small laugh. I didn't want to let go. I just wanted to thank her for taking me out of here. I wanted to give her the world for this.
I let go of our hug and smiled. Harry walked up to her and introduced himself and gave her an awkward hug.
Before I knew it we were in her small red car driving away from the place I called home for 15 years. A shiny, pale tear slid down my cheek and I quickly wiped it away hoping Harry didn't notice.
She told me it was going to be a long drive. I didn't realize it would be this long though. I decided to just sleep on Harry. I'm too tired to care if he minds. I set my head on his lap and dozed off.
"Lily wake up honey were here."
I looked up and saw Graces blue orbs looking into mine. I stretched then unbuckled my seat belt and stepped out of the car. This was a house straight out of MTV's Cribs. It was an old, white, Victorian, three-story home with ivy growing on it. I couldn't speak. Words tried to spill out of my mouth but there was so many that only a simple wow managed to make it's way out.
"Harry, Lily welcome to your new home," Grace said as she opened the front door.
