I wake up and look over towards my alarm clock. 3:00. In the morning.
"Classy." I mumble. I remember that the coaches said that we have to report at school by 3:15. Suddenly, my groggy mind grabs my thought quickly, my entire body shaking with the 'AW SHIT' response. I pull on jean shorts and a cropped t-shirt and pull on my tennis shoes and jacket. I pack a bag for the overnight and fly down the stairs. My mom wakes up and stops me.
"Do you have everything you need?" She asks softly. She smiles warmly and hugs me.
"Thanks mom. I'll be back soon. Give dad and Tanaka my love." I kiss her cheek and sprint out the door.
I live pretty far away from the school, and we don't have bikes. I sprint down the hill. My lungs start giving out when I hear a sound of a bike. It stops, brakes squeaking.
"Need a ride?" I hear a familiar voice ask. I look behind me to see Suga smiling sweetly.
"Uh- yea. Thanks." I smile back. He tells me to ride behind him on the back wheel. I grab on to his waist and balance myself on the foot rails on either side of the wheel.
"Hang on!" He yells, pedaling quickly down the road. After 3 minutes, we arrive. We are the last ones there, but that's not a problem. Everyone waves and we all board the bus. The streetlights whisk past the bus window as we roll silently down the highway.
A few hours later when the sun kisses the sky, we finally arrive to the Nekoma High School. I stretch and take a breath of fresh air. I look up to see some kind of tower.
"WHOAAAAAAAAA is that- that.... Tokyo Tower?!!!"I hear Hinata and Kageyama as they run towards the gym.
"Eh... Those idiots." Suga sighs calmly. "We need to get them a bit more roped back."
"Tell me about it." I reply, dropping my bag and turning to walk after them. I look back to see Ryu and Noya on either side. They look pumped. I smirked.
"Let's get those bastards." Ryu says as Noya cracks his knuckles. Daichi stands by. The three of us stand in a ready postition. 100 meters off is where they are, slowly accelerating.
"Ready!" Daichi yells. He claps and the three of us sprint. We start yelling as we get closer to them. Our voices got louder and, before they ran into the gym, we jump and tackle them. I grab Kageyama in a choakhold while Ryu forces Hinata to the ground. Hinata's legs and arms are flailing as they pick him up and drag him back to the bus. I look down at Kageyama to see him flustered and completely frozen. I chuckle as we both stand up. I'm still grabbing his neck. He's trying to break loose, but then he obeys and follows me back to the bus.
As I return, I see the Nekoma team greeting us. "Hii!!" I yell, waving towards the red jacketed volleyball players. They wave back, but look down to see Kageyama struggling to get out of my grasp.
"Uh... What happened here?" The captain asked, looking down at the head of the overthrown Kageyama.
"Oh? That's right. Hinata and Kageyama were yelling and running towards the gym, so Noya, Ryu and I tackled them and dragged them back here." I smile, finally letting go of Kageyama. He gasps for a second, but stands up and calmly walks over to Suga and Daichi.
The coach of Nekoma greets us and welcomes us to the training camp. As we walk over to the gym, I see Hinata punching this one really tall guy with white hair and emerald eyes.
"You looking at the white-haired one?" Coach Ukai asked me.
"Huh? Oh, yea. Who is he? I've never seen him before." I look back over to see Hinata shoved over by the tall high-schooler.
"That's Lev Haiba. He's a first year and new to this entire volleyball thing. He's part Japanese and part Russian."
Ehhhh?! Russian? How do I greet a Russian? Russian? Russian!!
I shake my head and smile. "T-that's cool." I reply. Hinata is trying to fight the tall Russian-Japanese mutt thing, but he just laughed.
"My, how you've grown, Tobio-chan!" My ears perk towards the nice-sounding voice. Sounds... familiar. I've heard that voice before, I swear I have!
"Ugh." I hear Kageyama grumble. Hinata stops his attempt on trying to kill Lev and growls.
"Oh! Would you take a lookie here," The voice says. "If it isn't little number 10? Shoyo, isn't it?"
"Hello, Great King." Hinata spat. I try to look behind me but is stopped by Shimizu.
"Let's leave the boys behind." Coach Ukai says as the staff leaves for the gym.
I hear yelling behind me. I try to catch a glance again, but my head is forced to look forward.
"W-what was that about?" I ask frantically.
"Just a bit of rivalry between our team and Aoba Johnsai." Shimizu said as we walk through the gym doors. I help set up the nets as we get ready for the practice games.
A few minutes later, the guys come back as all the teams file into the gym and separate into their practice spots.
