Chapter 10

Over the next nine months Steve, Bucky, Abi and the rest of the Howling Commandoes travelled occupied Europe taking down Hydra bases. The map that Steve had marked all the bases on began to have more crosses that Hydra logos. The team managed to somehow stay one step ahead of the red skull destroying his factories before he could get to them.

Each of them was given a title and a speciality. The list looked something like this:

Captain Steve G Rogers (Captain America), Howling Commandoes Operations Command.

Agent Abigail M Rogers (Abi), Howling Commandoes Science Officer.

Sergeant James B Barnes (Bucky), Howling Commandoes Sniper.

Lieutenant James M Falsworth (Monty), Howling Commandoes Tactics.

Corporal James Morita (Jim), Howling Commandoes Medic.

Corporal Jacques Dernier (Dernier), Howling Commandoes Demolitions.

Private Gabriel Jones (Jones), Howling Commandoes Communications Specialist.

Private Timothy Dugan (Dum Dum), Howling Commandoes Transport Specialist.

Together they were known to the world as Captain America and his Howling commandoes. The allies grew to idolise them and Hydra grew to despise them. They worked missions on their own or as part of a full platoon and often collaborated with the other allied countries in Europe. America filmed them and showed the movies as propaganda to try and get other men to sign up. They became the face of the war and none of them knew.

The Red Skull began to try and outwit them but failed as they still left a trail of burning factories and bases. He was infuriated and pushed his men harder than ever.

Abi and Bucky grew closer and their relationship began to grow. One day after a mission they were both sat in the med tent on their own and Bucky asked something she never dreamed of.

"Marry me?" He muttered.

"What?" Abi turned to face him with a shocked expression.

"I don't mean right now. I mean when this war's over and we're back in Brooklyn." He said looking at her.

"Yes." She said with a smile. "When we win this stupid war and put the red skull behind bars or six feet under, I'll marry you."

Bucky smiled and kissed her sweetly on the lips. He pulled back and reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring on a silver chain. "Here. This was my mom's. It's probably more practical to have it on a chain right now." She smiled at him as he reached round her neck and fastened it.

She picked it up and admired the beautiful yet simplistic design. "I love you." She whispered before kissing him again.

They pulled away as Steve walked into the room. "We think we have a lead on a train carrying weapons." Steve told them. They nodded and jumped to their feet. Abi dropped the ring inside her shirt before following Bucky after Steve.
