CHAPTER 15 - Fireworks

MARSHALL'S POV

July 4th had always been one of my favourite holidays, even as a kid we always tried to celebrate. Today had just been perfect though, an amazing day with my family and Athena. She was snuggled close to my body, her breath tickling my hand, I smiled to myself and watched as a few fireworks were let off in the distance, erupting their colour into the darkness. My eyelids were heavy and I was out of it before I knew it...

 I was slowly bought back into reality with oranges and reds seeping through my closed eye lids, the sun was warm even at what I assumed was early. Athena was dozing on my stomach and I could feel the warmth of her fingertips on my skin, I pulled her closer so I could hold her. I tucked her long dark hair behind her ear and kissed the top of it and then pressing my lips lightly down to the lobes. I took my time taking in the intricate shapes that made up her ear, I had never noticed how cute they were before, slight pointed at the top which swooped down into a small lobe. 

 ATHENA'S POV

I woke up to a tickle on my ear, I reached my hand up to rid myself of this pest that woke me up, only to have my hand laid gently back down at my side. It was Marshall. I felt so small wrapped up in his arms, his body curled around mine like he was protecting me, using himself as a human shield. I think Marshall realized I was waking up because he began nibbling at the cartilage. I smiled to myself, this moment was just perfect. I giggled and turned to face him as a smile began to spread throughout his features. His blue eyes were like a clear blue tropical sea and I was here drowning in them. Marshall lightly cupped my cheek and we let our lips dance together lightly. 

 I think we must have been laid like that for some time because you could now hear the sound of birds outside and inside the house the patter of footsteps gently broke the silence. I followed Marshall back into his room and I watched him move around his room, he looked perfect his grey joggers slung low on his hips, a black shirt covered his torso but you could still see the muscles ripple on his back as he moved my bags for me. I swiftly changed into the clothes I had on last night and looked back at Marshall. His short black hair was ruffled so when he finally sat down on the edge of his extremely comfy bed, I kneeled behind him and smoothed it down. I giggled as he laid back forcing me to lay down, his lips tickling my neck. Our little session was interrupted by a knock on the door...

 MARSHALL'S POV

In a family household it's difficult to get your intimate moments whether they be with yourself or with  someone else. But I was surprised we hadn't been disturbed, checking the clock I noted it was 8.30  normally before then I would have at least one of the kids pestering for me to watch TV or help with  breakfast, which of course I didn't mind.

 "Sorry about this" I whispered to her. 

 "Marshall, please, it's fine I understand". I smiled. I was glad, most girlfriends would get pissed,  Athena understood family. 

 "Come in!" I shouted, only to regret that as Nate bounced into the room and attempted to tackle me.

 "Nate!" Was all I could manage to grunt under his body weight.

 "Whadda you want?.. Seriously Nathan get the hell off of me!" I protested.

 "Just to borrow your shower."

 "Was all that necessary?" I questioned. Standing up, I rubbed my forehead, sightly embarrassed that Athena had seen me and my brother act like kids. 

 "Yes, dear wonderful older brother of mine can I use your shower please?" Nate spoke eccentrically. 

 "And what's wrong with yours?"

 "Yours has more settings; you didn't think to wake me up last night. I've been asleep on your sofa, some muscles didn't agree with that"

I heard Athena giggle and I scoffed at my younger sibling, allowing him to use my en suite. I wrapped an arm around Athena's waist and guided her downstairs.
