Harry and I danced to about five or six songs before I had to take a break. During that time, everyone got progressively more intoxicated, namely Tyler. I had been too busy having a good time to keep track of how many drinks he'd had, so by the time I remembered to check up on him it was too late.

Harry offered to go get us some drinks, so I took that as the perfect opportunity to steal Tyler away from Claire so I could talk to him.

"Hey Ty, how're you feeling?" I asked pulling him towards an empty table so we could sit and chat.

"Fantastic," he said.

"Have you been drinking water?" I asked.

"Sure."

"Have you eaten anything since we got here?"

"Yep."

"Are you sure you're okay?" I questioned. He was usually pretty talkative, especially when drunk, so his one-word responses were worrying.

"Just dandy," he replied, suddenly getting up from his seat and walking away.

I was too stunned to follow after him; I remained at the otherwise empty table and just stared at his retreating back. He had never been this blatantly rude to me before, not even when drunk. He was usually a happy drunk, very boisterous and always cracking jokes, so this side of him caught me completely off-guard.

Mia must have noticed the disappointment on my face after my interaction with Tyler because she suddenly appeared at my table.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked.

"Tyler," I replied.

"What happened?"

"I'm not sure. He's pissed at me for some reason, but just walked away when I asked what was wrong," I explained.

"That doesn't sound like him," She said, her face screwing up in confusion.

"Agreed. Should I try to talk to him? I don't want him to do anything stupid," Tyler could get a bit reckless when angry.

"Maybe give him some time to cool-off and then try again? But you shouldn't stay here by yourself," She said, taking my hand and leading me back towards the group.

Other than Morgan and Monica, everyone else was taking a break from dancing and they were now standing by the wall furthest from the dance-floor, just talking. Tyler was surrounded by some of the guys from Rules of Attraction. I chose to keep my distance for the time being and instead joined Evan, Claire, and Harry, who were standing a couple of feet away from them.

"You okay?" Harry asked inconspicuously while handing me a water bottle.

"Yeah, thanks," I replied, taking a swig of water.

"Jade, are you and Tyler dating?" Claire asked, taking me by surprise.

"Yeah," I replied.

"How long have you been dating?" She asked.

"A little over two years now, I think? Or something like that," I responded.

"It doesn't seem that way," Evan piped up.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "...What do you mean?"

"I've barely seen you guys interacting, is all," he shrugged.

"We've seen each other every day for the past five years. I think it's kind of normal for us to want to spend time with other people too," I said, not really understanding what he found so strange about Tyler and I spending some time apart.
