I was incapable of shedding anymore tears. They had long dried up and no more came out no matter how much I wanted them to.
I lay curled beneath my blanket in my room, with curtains drawn and door locked. This is how I had been for the past 24 hours. There were feelings I wish I could block out, forget and wish I never had, but I could not.
Chase had left a hole in my chest when he left and I can relate to how he felt when I left, yet again I couldn't help but think that he had Lacey to ease his pain. This mad my wolf and myself furious.
A knock on the door brought me out of my thoughts.
"Aves," Ethan said, using my old childhood nickname.
"Yes?" I said croakily.
"There's dinner downstairs want some?"
"I'm not hungry Eth."
He must have left because there was no reply. I had barely eaten and truth be told I was hungry just not ready to face the living yet. I left the comfort of my blanket to go to the bathroom and when I saw my reflection in the mirror I was shocked. My hair was greasy, face tear stained and eyes puffy. I could use a good shower right now. I stripped and got into the shower, turning in the warm water which instantly made me relax. I scrubbed and scrubbed till my skin was raw, getting off all the grim. Once I was done I stepped out and wrapped a fluffy towel around my body. I grabbed some clean clothes out of my closet and put them on. I felt a bit better, now I needed some food.
The smells wafting from the kitchen made my mouth water and tummy grumble like a monster.
"Look who decided to join the land of the living," Tanner said as I walked in.
"I knew the food would be too tempting," Ethan smiled.
"Guys give her space," Ivy said giving them each a look.
Nirvana lay in my best friends arms, making funny noises. Raven and Val sat talking, each giving me a sympathetic smile. My dad sat next to Ivy.
"Aves how you holding up?" He asked.
He obviously knew about Chase but hopefully did not know about Jason.
"Alright I guess. It hurts but I'll manage," I replied, giving him a reassuring smile.
He pulled me into a hug and then gestured for me to sit on his other side. A plate piled high with food was placed in front of me. I looked at his contents.
"Eggs, bacon and toast?" I said with surprise.
"If you don't like it you don't have to eat it," Ethan replied rolling his eyes.
"I thought was were having dinner," Henry remarked entering the room.
"We are," Tanner replied.
Henry just shrugged and went to Val, hugging her from behind and planting a kiss on her cheek. I felt an ache in my chest but ignored it.
I started shoveling the food in my mouth. I honestly didn't care if it was unladylike, I was HUNGRY.
"Slow down there Aves, you may get a tummy ache," my dad commented.
"No can do dad, I'm hungry like a bear!"
He started laughing and so did the rest of my friends.
"Oh Avery I missed you and you funny comments," my dad sighed.
"I missed you too dad."
He gave me another hug before saying goodnight to everyone and leaving.
