Chapter 1

*2011 MTV VMAs*

(backstage)

Beyonce: This is it Jay. We’re finally gonna reveal our secret (Beyonce says nervously)

Jay z : I know its nerve wrecking, but we’ve been waiting for four months and we won’t have to hide it anymore. Just go out there and do what you do best. Go out there and have fun.

Beyonce: How can I go out there and have fun when I’m going to reveal the biggest secret of my life? What if I trip and fall? What if I forget the lyrics? What if I throw up on stage? What if no one is happy for us? There are too many things that could go wrong.

Jay z: Yes, there are a lot of things that can go wrong, but you’re Beyonce and you’ve done this your whole life. You know what we’ve gone through to get where we are now. Don’t let your nerves get in the way of our happiness.

Beyonce: You’re right. We’re the happiest we’ve ever been and I get to let the world know.

Angie: Beyonce, you’re on in five minutes.

Beyonce: Okay. (looks at Jay) That’s my cue.

Jay Z: Good luck ma. I know you’re going to do great. See you in the audience.

Jay Z leaves the room as Beyonce gets finishing touches on her hair and makeup. She constantly fixes her blazer to make sure that nothing is revealed too soon. She’s feeling a bit nauseous, but she hears the crowd screaming and suddenly her nerves go away. She makes her way closer to the stage and waits for the signal for her to go out there. She quietly hums Love on Top while waiting.

Beyonce: (sings quietly) You put my love on top baby…

Mama Tina: Beyonce…

Beyonce: Hey mama!

Mama Tina: Hey baby! So this is the big moment right? Ugh! I know you must be nervous, but I know you’re going to do great as usual. I’m so proud of you and remember that your family is right backstage supporting you.

Beyonce: Thanks mom. Its great to know-

Frank: (interrupts their conversation) Beyonce you gotta take your place on stage now.

Beyonce: Okay give me a sec.(looks at Mama tina) Mom I gotta go. Love you! See you backstage (she walks on the stage and takes her place alongside the dancers.)

Beyonce takes a deep sigh as she waits for the music to start playing. She suddenly starts to remember everything Jay and her have been through to get to where they are now.

*Flashback to 2009*

(Doctor’s Office)

Nurse: Mr. and Mrs. Carter. The doctor will see you now.

Jay z: Okay. Bey, you ready?

Beyonce: Yep! Lets go get em’ (she says with a smirk.)

They both follow the nurse to a back room. She tells Beyonce to take off her shirt and lay on the bed.

Nurse: The doctor will be with you shortly.

Bey and Jay: Okay thanks

*10 Minutes later*

Doctor: (walks in) Welcome back Mr. and Mrs. Carter

Jay z: Hello

Doctor: Okay. When was your last appointment?

Beyonce: Last Wednesday.

Doctor: Okay well lets see whats going on here

The doctor takes the ultrasound probe and rubs it along Beyonce’s stomach. He looks at the screen disheartenedly.

Doctor: When was the last time you had an ultrasound again?

Jay z: Last week, why?

Doctor: Um, I’m sorry to say this. but it seems to be that you’ve miscarried your baby.

Jay z: What! We had an ultrasound last week and everything was fine! We heard a heartbeat and everything. (starts sobbing)

Doctor: I understand and I’m sorry,but there is no heartbeat today which means that a miscarriage has occurred. (starts to clean up the equipment)

The doctor then starts to explain to them what happened and what will happen. He tries to console them the best he can.

Doctor: Do you guys have any questions?

Jay z: (looks at Bey) no

Doctor: Mrs. Carter?

Beyonce couldn’t answer. She didn’t even feel like saying anything. She felt as if her soul had been tarnished. She just lost her first baby. She had picked out names and everything. If a God exists, how could he do this to her-how could he do this to them? She felt as if she wasn’t going to say anything ever again.

*Present Day 2011*

Beyonce comes back from daydreaming. A new sense of confidence washed over her. She had waited for this moment her whole life. She was the happiest she’s ever been.

Beyonce: I want to you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me. Hey! Woo! Bring the beat in!!!!

*10 minutes later*

(backstage)

*Everyone cheers*

Beyonce: I’m free! We’re all free! (gives everyone she passes a high five)

Beyonce couldn’t believe what just happened. She couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. Then she locks eyes with Jay z.

Beyonce: (hugs Jay) We did it!

Jay z: You did it haha!

Beyonce: I can’t believe it! we’re finally gonna be parents!
