Getting ready for a baby was a whole lot of pain and weirdness, at least for Kyoya Hibari. [Name], on the other hand, was getting more fat by the day, was extremely hormonal, and possessed this weird glow about her that Hibari couldn't put an exact name to. And he ignored the fact that she cried in her room every night. He tried everything he could possibly think of to make her happier, he truly did.
The kendo lessons were a distraction, until she became too big to move. Then he tried to teach her how to play shoji, but she became exceedingly irritated and tipped the board over on "accident", so that didn't work out either. He also tried going places with her too, but let's just face it, Hibari isn't social and the authorities don't seem to like it when he used his tonfa and threatened to bite people to death.
So, here he was. He and Tetsuya had already cleaned the room that he used to do his calligraphy in out. And somehow, Hibari had convinced Haru and Kyoko to distract [Name] as much as humanly possible and with their distractions and [Name] getting tired so easily nowadays, there was plenty of time for he and Tetsuya to finish their plan.
The baby room.
He was hoping she'd like it. The walls were painted a light blue, with white clouds spread out all over. 'Cause no one knew yet what the baby was going to be, that was actually in a few more weeks. They had all kinds of baby stuff in the room; crib, rocking chair for her, everything a baby needed. Well, according to the research he and Tetsuya had to do anyways. The finishing touches were the Hibird plush toy and the porcupine toy in the crib. Honestly, Tetsuya tried to, respectfully, nicely, persuade Hibari that the porcupine might be dangerous, what with the little spikes on it and all. However, Hibari was not hearing a word of it, this baby was getting it.
Hibari stood imposingly with his arms crossed over his chest, staring at all of his and Tetsuya's work.
"She'll love it, Kyoya." Tetsuya put a hand to Hibari's shoulder.
Hibari couldn't help but to let a small smile slip, "I hope so, Tetsu."
[Name] was just coming home from shopping with Haru and Kyoko, a few bags in hand. She yawned as she sat them down by the front door and took her shoes off, before slipping house shoes on. She didn't get very far before Tetsuya walked out of Hibari's calligraphy room, a smile on his face.
"[Name] can you come here a sec'?"
She immediately went, not thinking anything strange of the occurrence. Usually when she come home, Hibari and she sat down for a cup of tea together while they each talked about their day and when he talked about his, it was usually, oddly uneventful.
When she walked through the door and into the room, she really wasn't expecting to be met with such vivid color, when she was used to being meet with such stark white walls. Her eyes widened in pure surprise and she gasped in shock before covering her mouth with a shaky hand. When her eyes took in every piece of furniture, even the clouds on the walls, she finally started moving across the room. Her hands touched everything, feeling all of the textures of the room.
Then, when she finally made it to the crib where she saw the toys of Hibird and the porcupine, she picked them up and hugged them to her chest, tightly. A rush of heated tears spilled from her eyes, and without waiting a moment longer she ran to Hibari and threw her arms around him in the tightest hug imaginable. He would have chuckled at the squeak of the porcupine as it and the Hibird plush got squished between her belly and him, but with her tears flowing down her face and onto his chest, and her arms wrapped around them as far as they could go, with her belly being an obstacle; well his heart was making him feel weird things.
Hibari wrapped his arms around her also, placing his hands at the small of her back and placing his chin at the top of her head. The smell of her shampoo drifted up to his nose and he breathed in deeply. What was this feeling?
"Thank you, Kyoya. I don't have to worry anymore." She hiccupped on a sob.
So, was that the reason she had been crying? Or at least part of it?
"You had nothing to worry about. I'll take care of you and this baby."
She hugged him tighter.
And they neither one noticed that Tetsuya Kusakabe had left the room ages ago, a huge, successful grin on his face.
But what they also didn't know was that crisis awaited them.
A beeping noise signified to Tetsuya that someone had received a voicemail and he realized that [Name] dropped her cell phone by the front door when she came in.
He picked the phone off the floor and looked at the lit up screen.
