A/N: I know it's been forever since I last wrote anything. So, please excuse this mess. Hopefully you enjoy this. AND since it's been a while, you can definitely help me out by giving me some NICE criticisms. xx

"Love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart." - Washington Irving

It's the most soul-crushing feeling in the universe. It's a mixture of good and bad. You'll want it, but once you have it, you'll question whether it's worth it on multiple occasions. And when it's unrequited, you'll deny it for the longest time, until eventually there is no questioning it.

There was no questioning whether Hibari Kyoya had feelings for her or not. They were strong and overwhelming. They were hidden, most of the time. But anyone could tell that his personality was softer around her.

He hadn't seen her for more than a few moments ever since their meet-up with Gokudera a week ago. [Name] had made it her mission to do as many things as possible away from Hibari. He didn't know if she was intent on avoiding him or if she was just trying to keep occupied. He sincerely hoped the latter.

His hand ran fluidly, gracefully over the parchment in front of him. Usually calligraphy calmed him, mind and body. But he had messed up numerous times in the last few minutes. What was the point of this again?

He breathed out a frustrated sigh and placed his calligraphy pen down on the small table in front of him. He then placed his hands on the tatami behind him and leaned back, careful to not disturb the perched and sleeping Hibird on his shoulder. His back and shoulders were tense, and his head ached. Thinking about her was beyond stressful. He could only imagine how it was going to be for his stress levels after she had given birth.

Why were his thoughts always centered on her? Another sigh left his lips and he finally decided to give up and let his mind wander; to the time when he first thought of her as something more than an herbivore.

When both of them were younger, he had barely taken glimpses of her. She was just another one of Tsunayoshi's followers. She was always laughing, at times causing trouble. Her fiery attitude was only challenged when it came to obeying rules.

"Rules were made to be broken, Kyoya-san." She smirked and crossed her arms over her chest in a haughty fashion as she looked up at him.

He had immediately hit her head with a tonfa.

     "Not Namimori's rules, herbivore."

For the most part, she obeyed the rules. Hibari Kyoya had made sure of it - besides a person can only be hit with a tonfa so many times before they have enough.

That day in spring had been a busy one. For some odd reason, people had made it their mission to piss off the prefect that day. He had realized earlier on in the day that he couldn't be everywhere at once. But, he was there at the right time, apparently, when a group of people had circled around two freshmen arguing, and trying to throw punches.

He had hurried over to the commotion, only to see [Name] in the middle of the two freshmen. She was short, so he hadn't seen her until he was right up on them. The group of people quickly parted to make room for Hibari, but his steel eyes were glued to her and the two boys. She was in the middle of the two, both arms out, trying to keep them from hitting each other. Her height didn't really have anything on them, so they were still trying to throw punches.

Hibari had been on the verge of intervening, but her firm, and somewhat authoritative voice had stopped him in his tracks.

"Enough!" They fighting boys ceased and their eyes fell on her. "You must be new if you don't know that Hibari Kyoya will murder you if he catches you. But considering he isn't here yet, you'll have to deal with me!"

A scowl marred her face and one of the two boys threw his head back and laughed. She had looked at him hatefully in turn.

"What's a pipsqueak like you going to do, huh?"

His hand had reached out to more than likely pat her head, but she stopped him mid-air and hit his arm away from her. He immediately stopped laughing and when he stepped forward she swept her leg against the back of his knee and he fell face first on the floor.

He looked up at her, anger all over his face, "Why you little-"

He stood to go for her, but instead of being face-to-face with [Name], Hibari was in her place.

"Herbivore, rules state no fighting on school grounds. I'll bite you to death." He raised his tonfa for emphasis.

In a split second everyone had parted like the red sea. The two boys who were previously fighting being the first ones to run away from the danger. He would have to punish them for running in the halls later.

"I knew you had to be right around the corner, Kyoya-san."

His eyes found her, standing smugly and smirking.

His tonfa hit her right in the head without hesitation.

     "Owwwwww!"

"You should have better judgement, [Surname]."

The front door clicking closed drew his attention away from his thoughts of the past. So, she was home. He stood and walked out to greet her. She was standing in front of the small end table. Looking down at the mail in her hands, he watched her place her sole attention on one envelope and then put down the others in her hand. When she had the piece of mail open and was reading the contents, he made himself known.

     "What's that?"

Her head jerked toward his direction and she smiled upon seeing him.

"Appointment. Baby appointment. I don't really want to go, especially since I'm supposed to let Hayato know."

She frowned and tossed the piece of paper on the nearby table.

     "When is it?"

She sat down and sighed, "Three days from now at 9AM."

Hibari's lips moved, but no words came out. He almost, accidentally, told her that he would go with her. But that would be an insane idea. Wouldn't it? I mean, he wasn't the father.

     "Will you go with me?"

When he gazed over at her, she was looking at him expectantly. His heart sped up. Was she really asking-?

     "Okay."

"Okay," she smiled and placed her hand on her baby bump.

Well, she was a little insane. And he was a little reckless. So, why not?
