•Chapter Eight•
I was pondering my mind for ways to describe this place. I couldn't think of any though. All my words sounded cliché, stupid or just weird. I simply was going to stay silent until I found the right word. But I knew it would never happen. It was simply to breathtaking and beautiful for words.
I glance at Oliver. His eyes on me. I couldn't help but smile and look away. He returned the smile when I made eye contact with him again. A small blush covered my cheeks and I look straight ahead, avoiding his gaze.
"Where exactly are we?" I blurt. It was the first time it occurred to me. I have been so worried about how beautiful and amazing this place is and not on were we actually were. I mean, I normally am really observant, and ask multiple questions on where or what we were doing or going. I really needed to be more observant.
Oliver smiles. "We are in Yukari."
I furrow my eyebrows. "Yukari? Where is this... Here exactly?"
"Well very few people know about this place.. Only me and my father really know about it. A lot of people that do stumble across it normally stay and build a house or something. I am not sure, just I have come across people and villages here. Friendly people. Very friendly. It is much harsher here, weather wise. Winters are harsh and cold, but very beautiful. Summers are hot and humid. Fall is beautiful and colorful same as spring. " Oliver turns towards me.
I nod. "I see,"
We then rode on in a thick silence. It was undeniably awkward for me. But I tried to ignore it and move on. I was tired, hungry and sore. It felt like it has been hours since I have eaten anything.
Then a thought dawned on me. Why are we here? What's so important about this place? I was looking for a place that I could stay a few months, year or two until people forgot about me. Not a forever place. I wanted to roam, find new things. Most of all, be free. Free from the everyday lifestyle of a 'princess'. It sounds glorified and beautiful but really it is just a chain of rich people who don't care about you, only social standing and how much money you have.
I desired to ask him. "Oliver, why are we here?"
Oliver looks at me. "I figured this was a place to visit, at least stay here for a while."
I blinked at him. "Why? Why here?"
"It's beautiful."
"That's it? What about safety?" I countered.
"I figured you-"
"No! How many people actually know about this place? Honesty right now!"
"Not many!"
"Give me a number!" I yell.
"I don't know!"
"I know you do!"
"Why would you think I would know?"
"Because when you lie you fidget and your voice gets higher!" I yell
"I only know if 5 people who know about this place.. Ok?" He growls.
"Who?"
"My father, Cris, Quincy, Adam and me."
"Quincy know about this place? And Adam?" I scream.
"Yes, is something wrong about that?"
"If they know anything the first thing they would do is tell my Father! They are not stupid Oliver!"
"Lia I didn't know they-"
"Shut up! If you were smart enough you would know Adam is going to be head of the council, meaning he has to share everything and anything he knows! My father would never resist the urge to come in here, fight all these innocent people and then take the land for himself!" I yell.
