To the Woman Who Stayed Behind.

Who would have thought, ten years ago, this would be the outcome of our still young lives?

And though the arguments could last for days, you are still the one I run to.

And though we disagree in vast detail, you are still the one to make sure I am okay.

But it is not the arguments that define us.

It is the music blaring loudly as we sing in the car.

The long talks at anytime of the day.

It is how well we defend each other.

It is that no matter what, you are here for me and I am here for you.

And I think that is a beautiful thing that has been lost with most people.

So cheers to the woman who lets me choose the radio station from time to time.

Cheers to the woman who puts up with my outrageous ideas.

Cheers to the woman who drops what ever she doing to give to me.

Cheers to the woman who has defended me in our own kind of war.

Cheers to the woman who knew how to raise me right even though I didn't understand at the time why.

And these days, you feel like the rock being pushed away

But you are the rock shaping me into the woman I will one day be.

So mom I say thank you for the last 16  years I have had.

Because without you, I would not be me.

Happy Mothers Day.
