Caius POV
I stood beside Sophia amongst the rubble staring over and Aro. All of us were covered in dust and no-one was making a sound. I was in the midst of wondering why Aro had not set Jane or Alec on us when he stepped forward causing us to crouch defensively towards him.
"Brother Dearest, Sophia, I don't want to fight with you. Let us mend these bonds so that we can continue to rule to immortal world. There are werewolves out there that need destroying, you remember how they tore you wife to shreds don't you Caius? With me we can make them suffer." I stepped forwards and wrapped my hand around his throat.
"My wife is stood behind me and our children need us." I released my grip from around his neck and took a deep, unnecessary breath. "I have enjoyed these past millennia with you Aro and only want to remember them happy, but my circumstances have changed and my life no longer revolves around the Volturi."
Sophia stepped so she was beside me and placed a hand on each of our shoulders.
"Aro I appreciate everything you have done for us, even if you didn't originally plan on doing so, but Caius and I need talk and then we need to take the children somewhere that they won't be influenced by the Volturi's harsh thinking. They have the option to grow up to be normal mortals, even if we have to stay blood-drinkers. I will not deny them that option." Aro looked down as I guided Sophia out of the dishevelled throne room; Jane looked at me in horror as I ruined her plans, she had always hoped that I would fall for her once Sophia was dead.
We showed up at the nursery to see Marcus teaching the children about distant planets and stars, their faces glowing with the knowledge. I pulled Sophia outside ready to explain to her everything that Aro had said but she put her hand on my face and smiled.
"I was a human and you despised of me, its fine, I understand." I placed a kiss on her lips before being rammed by two small figures who insisted on joining in on the hugs and kisses. We were finally free to be happy as a family.
