The next morning came and I was still shaken up about what had happen last night. I cried a little about it last night but I ultimately decided that rouges wouldn't kill me. I was better off alive than dead to them. My blood could raise a super army, the only thing my death could do was to bring back a person or two from the dead.

As I was getting ready to go to lunch with my dad there was a knock on the door. Nathalia went to answer it. Before leaving my room I could already assume it was my mate at the door. I was surprised he didn't come to my room last night, but I'm not sure I would have wanted to have him see me crying. Even Nathalia knocked on my door last night to ask if I was ok.

Regardless, that was last night, and I was able to come to terms with my new "ability". That's why I was able to greet my mate with a genuine smile of my own.

"You look beautiful ." His eyes swept up and down me. "Last night went well?"

"Let's talk more inside." My eyes flickered to Nathalia who was clearly listening from the kitchen area. Reid followed me into my room and shut the door.

"Why didn't you come last night?" I asked. I examined my mate's outfit. He was wearing dark grey trousers with a white buttoned down shirt. The top buttoned was left undone and I could see that his chest hairs were visible. It should be a crime to be this attractive.

I wondered where he was going today.
There wasn't much for him to do here. According to my dad, in the spring the tennis courts were open and the stables as well. There was a lake for swimming just a mile away. Had we come in the spring Reid would have a lot to do. Unfortunately the grounds were covered with snow, so he couldn't enjoy this place as much.

Although Reid didn't seem to mind this isolation much. He sat on the edge of my bed and pulled me into his lap. Besides cuddling in bed, this had become our second favorite position to be in. He traced my collarbone with kisses.

"You want me to tell the truth? Can't we just do this instead?"His hand went up my leg.I shook my head and he sighed."Last night I was following your dad."

I frowned."What?! Follow him where?"

Reid was still smiling so I wasn't too alarmed. "I don't know Cara, he left late last night around 11. I was curious so I tried to follow his scent. He went down a few floors, went through a hallway and it was like his scent just vanished. He returned around 1 in the morning."

"Well did you ask him where he went. I'm sure there's an explanation." My dad wasn't the type of man to sneak around or have secrets. "Maybe he just went for a walk."

"Yeah. Maybe." He shrugged. That was Reid's polite way of saying that he didn't agree with me. "I still have my suspicions though."

I still looked at him dumbly. My mate was forever suspicious. My dad was pretty honest, I'm sure if Reid just asked, my dad would tell him. Still, Reid had a healthy distrust for people and he would always assume people were up to some mischief.

"So baby, speaking about secrets. I can't believe you didn't tell me you could understand their language. What is it called again? Morsk?"

I shrugged."It's not like I knew beforehand. Smith spoke it yesterday and somehow I could tell what he was saying. It's my first language so I guess in some ways I'll never forget it." It was interesting now looking back on prior memories I couldn't remember ever learning English. So much of my past from 3-10 had been blocked out, I could only remember small bits of memory. I forgot that I had adopted English as a second language. Spending so much time captured had forced me to use English everyday. I guess after awhile I just assumed that that was the language I had grown up with.
