I make it down to the cockpit just as we were landing on some platform. I couldn't see from the doorway what our surroundings looked like but with the fresh scent of salt in the air, we were still by the ocean.
"How is our guest?" Robin asked when he seen me approaching.
Obviously, I couldn't tell him the truth. "Frustrating, as always." I wanted to stab myself when I actually stuttered in the middle of the sentence. What panicked me most was that Robin noticed, but he didn't acknowledge it. What the hell was wrong with me?
After a few seconds, he sends both Cyborg and Beastboy to retrieve Jason, which just left me more confused. "I could have handled walking him down here." I hissed, only loud enough for him to hear. "Or are you just afraid he will hurt me?"
"I made it perfectly clear to him that if hurt you..." He paused, his face suddenly clamming like he almost let something slip. "If he hurt anyone on this team, he would pay. I just didn't want to take any unnecessary risks."
Well that was a lie straight through his teeth, and anyone would have been able to see it, but I just shake it off as I hear the boys walking back down the hall. Don't stare, don't stare.
As I hear them walk into the cabin, me and Jason did well at not making much eye contact, but I still had to force myself to look out the window at this new tower we had landed at. We seemed to be outside, on top some platform that sat next to the water's edge.
I felt Robin's presence beside me. "Let's just get this over with." I mumble as I change to my wolf form and begin walking toward the door. "I'm eager to see how these humans cope this the newest team members."
He scoffs. "You sure you want to show up looking like that? I mean, you're probably gonna send them into heart attacks."
"First impressions always count, Wonder Boy." I smirked, making him just shake his head at me like a brother would do to a sibling. Fenris he reminded me so much of Marcus!
The door begins to slide open as all of the Titan gathered around the exit. As we begin to walk outside, I seen that there wasn't much to take in at first, just the side of a giant cliff. If you craned your neck up far enough, you could just barely make out the tops of skyscrapers coming from the city. Why would someone build a tower here? Wouldn't you want a clear view of the people you were trying to protect?
As I stared up at the sky, I noticed a thin sheet of clouds above, but it was only when we were walking down the ramp when I seen what they really were. It was smoke. Smoke and dust from some kind of debris in the city.
I tore my gaze away when I seen 5 other strangers standing at the base of the landing dock, waiting to greet us. "Thanks for getting here so quickly."I recognized Speedy's voice, and then noticed him coming forward to shake Robin's hand. "People are beginning to panic, and it's getting too much for just us to handle."
The others behind him just stood there watching us, like they were some kind of lesser before an alpha. The Titans must be the top dogs in this little hero gang they have formed, something I certainly didn't know before.
"What about the city?" Robin asked. "How much damage so far?"
Speedy's eyes began to wander over Robin's shoulder as he spoke. "Most of the buildings have come down, along with dozens of cracks in the earth. Sinkholes have began to appear around..." He freezes when his eyes fall on me. "What in gods name is that?"
His finger pointed right at me, and I met it with a snarl. "Now is that a way to greet a stranger?"
The girl behind Speedy, who was dark skinned and had some kind of black and yellow outfit, seemed the less alarmed. "Sparky told me you had a new teammate, but you never mentioned it was a dog!"
