Home Sweet Home

As we rode to our new house, and yes, Mom convinced Howard that it would be best to get a new house so we could all 'start over,' I talked to Daire. I found out that we were, in fact, the same age.

"We're here!" Howard called out.

I looked up to the biggest freaking house I have ever seen. Not meaning to, I gasped out loud.

Daire giggled, "I know, that was my first reaction too!"

I smiled at her. She had a pretty voice. She could probably sing a million times better than I can.

"This is beautiful, Howard!" My mom cooed at my new stepfather.

I rolled my eyes at her. Such a suck up.

I picked a room at the back of the house. Awesomely enough, it had a bathroom. I made sure the door was locked before I took off my jacket.

I let out a sigh of relief after unfolding my wings from my back. They get cramps like any other body part if in one position for too long.

My wings were my absolute favorite things in the world. They were thin with a mixture of black and white feathers. I would have to go for a spin later on tonight to get a scope of the new landscape.

I pulled out my phone and put on my favorite playlist and started to unpack the carry on bags I brought with me. I can't wait until the rest of my stuff gets here. I have to wait a few weeks to get my bike though which really disappointed me. Yes, I own a motorcycle. Guess I'm just slick like that.

I decided to call Dad and let him know that Howard wasn't a million year old rapist or anything.

Dad's face popped up on my screen, "Hey, Angel gotten eaten by your mom's cannibal fiancee yet?"

I snickered, "Not yet, but let's not rule out the possibility yet. What do you think of my new room?" I turned my phone around the room.

"Wow"

"I know. Mom really found a moneybag this time."

"Bethany, what's on your arms?" Dad said suddenly serious.

I sighed. Crap I can't believe I forgot to put a long-sleeve on. I rubbed the scars on my wrists.

"Nothing, Dad. How's Lacey?" I asked while pulling my jacket back on.

Dad frowned but I guess my question diverted him for now, "Your sister's fine. I'll send her up there once you get settled. Bethany this is serious why are there red marks all over your wrists?"

Shit, maybe not. "It nothing Dad, just the lighting. Tell Lace to call me later." Then I hung up.

Now I know, I know, I probably should've mentioned this earlier but its more fun to find out on your own isn't it? Lacey Willows is my twin sister. In the court battle, the drug thing wasn't too concrete so they decided to give Dad Lacey and leave me with the Hellion. Lucky, lucky me.

The handle on my door jiggled a little bit, and I realized I forgot to unlock it. I check and make sure my wings are completely folded back into my jacket and that the sleeves cover my scars before I go and see who it is.

"Hi, new sister!" Daire says cheerily.

I laughed at her enthusiasm, "Hey Daire. I was just about to go find you."

"Oh! Well, I got you something. Dad said you liked necklaces so.."

In Daire's hands was the prettiest necklace I had ever seen. It was a deep purple color and shaped like a marble. I looked closer and saw that my name was carved into the front in curly cursive lettering.

"Daire, its beautiful! Thank you so so much!"

Daire's face lit up, "I'm glad you like it. I better get back to my room I've still got some unpacking to do too." With that she handed my the necklace and strolled out of my room.

I pulled the necklace over my head. I looked down when I heard it clink against my other necklace. It was one I wore all the time. Lacey gave it to me on our birthday one year. We had matching ones. It had a small gold chain and the charm was shaped like a star and had pair of wings in the middle of it. Guess it was gonna have some company now.
