Savage woke up for once in a good mood. She rolled over and kissed Nux gently on his chin, the white clay having long since rubbed off the day before. He smiled and rolled over to face her.

"Good morning," Savage smiled as she pulled her clothes towards her.

"Good morning indeed," Nux murmured, blushing heavily as Savage stood up to put her clothes on.

"Why are you embarrassed?" Savage smiled as she pulled on her pants. "It's not like you haven't seen this before". She winked at Nux as she slid her belt through the pant loops. Nux smiled before he started to cough. Savage didn't take any notice of it until Nux was laying back on the floor, unable to breath.

"Nux!" Savage screamed as she scrambled down the side of the war rig. "Someone help!" Furiosa and the blood bag were on their feet almost instantly, their places by the small fire long forgotten.

"What's wrong?" he demanded.

"He can't breath!" Savage gasped as she hurried back up the war rig, ignoring the quizzical looks the two older people gave each other. Savage fell onto her knees beside Nux, throwing the sheet over his still naked torso. She held his head in her hands gently as the man and Furiosa finally caught up.

"What is he doing here?!" Furiosa demanded as she pulled out her gun.

"He wants to help us!" Savage growled angrily as she shoved Furiosa backwards, her usual self making an appearance. She was just about to tackle Furiosa when the man called Savage back over. He had somehow managed to get Nux breathing again.

"Nux, what happened?" Savage gasped as she gently held his head yet again.

"Oh it was nothing, just Larry and Barry," he murmured.

"Who?" Furiosa asked as she came closer. Nux shakily pointed his finger at two large lumps on his neck.

"Larry and Barry. They are slowing eating away at my windpipe. If they don't get me the night fevers will". A hard look formed across Svage's face, holding in her emotions. Furiosa left to go inform the wives what was happening, but the blood bag stayed with them for a few minutes longer.

"We won't be babysitting him," he stated bluntly. "He is your problem".

"Nux isn't a problem," Savage growled as she shoved him with her foot, sending him stumbling outside. Savage helped Nux to dress before helping him to his feet, guiding Nux down the side of the war rig and to her car. They needed to be leaving soon. Flares were popping off in the distance, meaning the war parties were getting ready to leave their overnight camps.

"So you slept with that war boy?" Furiosa startled Savage as she climbed down the rig. Nux was too out of it to notice they were talking about him. Savage just ignored her and helped Nux into her car.

After settling Nux into the passengers seat, Savage quickly refueled her car from the war rigs supply and drove off in the direction they were heading last night. It didn't take long for the war rig to catch up, the large tyres chewing up the distance like nothing else. The distant sounds of the Doof Wagon not letting them forget what they were running from.

It had been a long day of driving, and Nux finally had the strength to string sentences together. He and Savage had been making small talk, the subject of last night having popped up a few times. Night was falling and Nux kept wanting to keep his hand in contact anywhere on Savage's body, no matter where he put his hand or how distracting it was from driving.

Savage kept her lights off, even though she could barely see the war rig a few metres in front of her. Nux was glancing around at their surroundings.

"The ground looks funny," Nux commented. "Not like sand at all". Savage glanced out of her window, uneasy to see mud on the ground.

"It's mud," Savage gulped. "Cars can get stuck in it".

"Surely the heavy war rig will get stuck?" Nux asked.

And that is exactly what happened.
