Rictus grabbed a hold of the blood bag and threw him onto the hood of the war rig. But Savage's attention changed when she heard a pained cry from Nux. She whipped her head around to see him holding his throat, Larry and Barry causing him unwanted pain.

"Nux, can you drive?" Savage shouted. He nodded slowly as he swapped positions with Savage. She grabbed a thunderstick and threw it into the wheels of the Doof Wagon, causing it to flip over and block the start of the canyon. No more war boys were getting through.

Nux sped up so they were neck in neck with the war rig. Savage whistled loudly, grabbing Rictus' and blood bag's attention. Blood bag ducked when he saw Savage holding a thunderstick, but Rictus was too thick to think to duck. The thunderstick slammed right into his chest, sending him flying backwards as he exploded into tiny pieces. Blood bag nodded to Savage as he jumped back onto the Giga Horse.

The canyon was quickly narrowing, forcing Nux to pull in behind the war rig. Savage noticed one of the Many Mothers waving frantically at her. She was yelling something.

"Get in front of the rig!" she was screaming. That's when it clicked in Savage's head; they were going to flip the war rig.

"Nux you have to get in front of the war rig right now!" Savage cried desperately through the hatch. He nodded once and sped up through the narrow gap. But it was too late. There was no way he could pass the war rig now. It was too close to the passage. As Nux slowed the vehicle down Savage watched helplessly as one of the Many Mothers turned hard on the steering wheel, forcing the war rig to turn over on itself before hitting the passage walls, exploding in a ball of fire. Savage slumped down, defeated, as there only way home was blocked off. Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, a sob escaping her lips.

Nux quickly slid out beside her and pulled her into a tight embrace, a few tears even leaving his deep blue eyes.

"They knew this would happen," Savage whispered.

"What?" Nux asked quizzically.

"That's why they put most of their supplies into my car," she whispered. "They knew we would get blocked on the wrong side". Nux was silent for a long time, thinking about what she had just said.

"Surely it was an accident," he murmured. Savage just shrugged, not sure what she should believe anymore.

"How am I going to get you to Gastown now to remove Larry and Barry?" she whispered, more tears sliding down her face at the thought of losing Nux. He kissed away the salty tears running down her cheeks.

"There is a way around the canyon," Nux murmured. "There is still hope".

"It's a long way," Savage muttered as she snuggled close to Nux's comforting warmth.

"We will make it," Nux stated. "I promise".
