The next morning Hera woke up before Kanan did. She was still emotionally compromised from the day before so she went out to watch the star rise. She often did nothing in the mornings as long as she could get away from it. Sitting on the ramp she looked at the horizon suddenly realizing that she would have to raise a child in the middle of a war.
She remembered how hard it was for her to understand why she always hiding while her father was missing for practically half of her life. Wondering why there were blasts overhead when she was trying to sleep. Knowing that her father might not be coming back, but never knowing why he wouldn't just stay with her and her mother. Hera also had a few memories running from the surface to the underground caves with droids shooting at her and the other much larger Twi'leks, and never knowing what she had done to provoke them. When Hera had finally understood the war they were already entering another war, more of the Galaxy becoming a mass battle field for fending off an oppressor, a binder of wings.
Hera broke her thoughts when a gentle hand touched her shoulder. Looking up she saw Kanan with a concerned look on his face. "I'm fine Kanan, its nothing." "You know you don't look fine." Hera raised her eyebrow "Well I am, so I don't know why your worrying." Kanan rolled his eyes at the sas, "Ahk"
"Kanan!?" Kanan was suddenly on his knees gripping his head in agony. Hera eyes wide with fear tried to get him into the ghost, but she could barley support him let alone lift him up. "ZEB! I need your help!" Zeb came running out of the ghost, picking up Kanan and bringing him to the med area in the ghost.
Hera, Zeb and Sabine rummaged through the med supplies to find something that might sooth Kanan. Hera recognized his illness as the Kaminoan nano-virus she so often heard about during the clone wars. She had even heard it was lethal so she had told the others to look for a pain killer before they brought Kanan to a med center.
"Found it!" Sabine shouted, "Good, now give it to me so I can administer it." Hera said walking over to the teen extending her hand out, Sabine handed it to her with a suspicious glance "Why can't I give it to him Hera?" Hera gave Kanan the drug whilst replying, "It never has been clear to anyone how the virus is transmitted to other humans. I don't want you to get it, in fact you stay with the ship and guard it, and that's an order 'bine"
Zeb picked Kanan up and placed him in the spare speeder that they hid around just in case. Kanan was in stage 2 of the disease, he was starting to lose memory of what he did a few minutes ago and he was obviously having some sort of mental thing because he was repeating the same words over and over, "It was my fault not strong enough.".
Hera had heard the stories and none of them had ever ended well. There were the group of clones on Kamino but they could have been a roomer. There was however one case that was pretty much the same symptoms and it was never actually confirmed that that was the cause as it was a whole conspiracy.
"Hera you know Kanan's going to be fine right?" Zeb said breaking the silence. "I'm not worrying about Kanan its the Empire that I'm worrying about." "Why?" "Zeb, you know why. I hate med centers they are often teaming with Imperials doing nothing to aid anyone there." "Why aren't we just taking him to one of the rebellion doctors?" "They don't have the supplies to get what is needed to help Kanan, I also don't know weather he would have made it there."
Zeb pulled the speeder into the nearest parking space and picked up Kanan. They walked into the med center with droids and nurses giving checkups to everyone in the compound. There was a desk where the patients had to check in, with an imperial officer checking them in.
Hera switched over to her accent "Hello, I would like to enter my husband Ofmire Quat in this med center he is quite ill." The officer looked at Hera suspiciously "Stay here while I go get an actual doctor." He walked off, coming back a few minutes later with several troopers on his tail, and a data pad in hand.
Zeb looked at Hera with a concerned look on his face. The Imperial started speaking, "Garazeb Orrelios, Kanan Jarrus, and Hera Syndulla, have been ordered to be imprisoned and executed when spotted. One lassat, one human male with green eyes and brown hair, and one Twi'lek color green with green eyes. Any resistance will be met force. Turn around so you may be hand cuffed."
Hera stood firm looking the officer in the eye with defiance. "I said turn around tail head!" He yelled, Hera's look of defiance turned one into pure rage as she pulled her arm back and punched the officer in the face "No one calls me tail head ever!" She proceeded to kick the officer as two of the stormtroopers attempted to wrestle her down.
Zeb on the other hand was battling the other troopers while trying to keep Kanan away from them. Zeb almost got all of the stormtroopers but one shot him with a stun blast making him drowsy enough to stop fighting and drop Kanan to the ground.
The troopers got the best of Hera and handcuffed her Zeb and Kanan. The troopers started kicking Kanan to get him to sit up. When Hera saw that she stood up shoving both of the troopers that were holding her down by the shoulders and started fighting against them for a second time, throwing her entire body mass at each of them. Unfortunately the troopers were prepared and managed to force Hera back down.
The troops lined up and prepared to shoot their victims. Hera closed her eyes and braced her self for the impact. She heard the click and then felt the burning from a spot on her body, then coursing through her before every feeling went in her body. As two other bodies hit the ground.
